11 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1994: (Jonnikhan): Greetings to All!
14 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1994: (Cunnilingus): 45mins left need one more... I really want to play
14 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1994: Consider it Brung! :)
18 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1995: We need one more player for the new African variant of Diplomacy. Check this game out: board.php?gameID=10990. Join us, if you're feeling adventurous! There are three days left to sign up.
20 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: Well that lasted all of one year... Good playing you guys!
20 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: I'm playing "My Heart Bleeds For You" on the world's smallest violin. You attacked your neighbors, what did you expect? In this case, silence is deadly. Diplomacy is the art of communication and negotiation. Your survival will improve remarkably by using diplomacy - thus the title of the game.
20 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: I always dread getting France on maps like this. Certainly as Spain, there's nowhere else I can really go, and you just tend to make an easy target. Bad luck!
20 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: Sympathies expressed from Germany. We'll meet with you somewhere in southern France and discuss this further in person.

Seriously, did France even attempt any diplomacy? Or did he attack Italy, you and me coming straight out of the gate? I have no sympathy for those who don't know the art of diplomacy. They are the ones who will fail.
21 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: Wow sorry didn't realize that I you were a diplomacy master sir. You can't honestly tell me that France is a fair starting position on this map. No matter how many allies you eventually have to fight one of the four countries right out of the gate. Pretty sure the best thing to do with France is reck havoc and bow out respectfully....
21 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: Germany is in a similar circumstance, France.
21 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: Judging by the stats I wouldn't say so
21 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1995: It must have something to do with my allies...
21 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1996: I'd like to weigh in that while diplomacy can overcome ugly starting positions, certain nations on this map do have the odds stacked against them.

I had 'good' comm with Britain/Poland/Ukraine right out of the gate. Ukraine even moved in an incredibly friendly way (from a russian perspective). However within the last year and a half, each of Britain Poland and Ukraine have stabbed or stood me up, mostly because Russia is spread so thin it can't group its forces to focus in any one direction or have a decent shot at defending against any 2 of its neighbors, let alone 3.

Some nations DO have crappy starting positions, and I don't know whether the French player attempted comm with any of it's neighbors, but I've found France to be rather handicapped on this map as well. I do agree however, that not talking to your neighbors makes a crappy starting position impossible, but there are definitely crappy starting positions, and while these may in some cases be perception it is definitely harder to solo this map as france or russia, than as turkey/ukraine/germany.

Lastly, there is just plain bad luck, and it seems that is what I have drawn this game.
To any of my neighbors that are willing to re-open comm with me, I am willing to discuss drastic terms to attempt to survive.
21 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1996: Yeah, France is statistically the worst country and Turkey the best. A little luck and a little diplomacy can change your fate though. One guy soloed as France and 58 Turkeys were eliminated so anything can happen.
21 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1996: very true..

WWIV game needs players if anyone wants in, its anon, 10 to buy in
25 Nov 12 UTC Spring, 1997: All, I apologize for the NMRs..

Holiday festivities kept me away for longer than I expected. I won't be intentionally slowing this game down because I am nearly gone.

Grats to the organized assault against me, wish things had been different but sometimes, the luck of the draw is all it takes to have a bad showing in a game.
26 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1997: Well played, Russia.
29 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1998: GameMaster: Ukraine voted for a Pause. If everyone votes Pause the game stop and wait till everybody votes Unpause. Please consider backing this.
29 Nov 12 UTC Autumn, 1998: Oops, my bad
