25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (Argotitan): Hi. :-)
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (President Eden): Hello! How are you? :)
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (Argotitan): OK. I've been setting up live games all day, but nobody joins. :-(

How are you?
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (President Eden): I s'pose it's been as difficult as ever to get a game going here, then. Haha. Just showed back up myself after a long absence. It's hard to get live games going.

I'm doing well! Looking forward to the extended weekend -- crawfish boil on Memorial Day and a family friend's graduation celebration tomorrow afternoon. Got any weekend plans?
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (Argotitan): Graduation... I graduated 2 years ago with my degree in economics and finance... still can't find a job. Everyone wants references and experience, but you can't get experience unless you have experience......

I've played diplo on servers for ~10 years. It's always been slow to get fast games going, but I figured you guys figured it out by now. I used to play on a server that had 12 hour games go regularly, but people would team up behind the scenes. :-(

Does that happen a lot here?
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (President Eden): Well, over on webdip live games go pretty quickly. This sister site has always been the smaller of the two, so finding enough people online is more difficult. As for predetermining alliances, from what I understand it's comparatively rare. It might be a little more common here than webdip, again due to the smaller (and thus tighter-knit) community, but still rare.

I actually meant high school graduation earlier, lol. But it's interesting that you're in econ and finance. I'm a year away from getting my degree in economics as well! What are you looking to do?
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (Argotitan): I was looking to get into quality assurance or customs brokering before, but it didn't stick. I didn't really want to do it anymore. My mind shifted away from economics because I realized how tenuous property rights are. People play language games all the time to say your property rights aren't proper and that you're arbitrarily using words to justify yourself. Then, they say property rights don't really exist and shift burden of proof onto the negative in expecting you to prove yourself to them before they're willing to respect you.

I just got a lot more interested in studying law instead. They say economics students are some of the best law students around, but law schools are very left-wing.
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (Argotitan): What are you looking to get into now?
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: (President Eden): Funny that you mention law school, I went into undergrad thinking I wanted to do that and now I'm in economics and not sold on law school anymore. lol. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, now. When I switched to econ about a year ago I wanted to go to grad school and eventually teach microecon, but my GPA got hammered the past year and barring a miracle I'd have to choose between a debt-saddled run through the local state school's program or not going at all. I'm going *to* aforesaid school for undergrad, and it's by no means bad, but I've been in this city all my life and I'm getting more eager by the day to get out -- and I don't want to take on debt regardless.

I've heard the same about law school being pretty lefty. I'd imagine an economics student would do well in law school, but I don't think I could much manage actually having to go and be a lawyer. Contract law is about the only thing I feel I could do and stay within the bounds of my values anyway, not many options...
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: Best of luck, by the way. ;)
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1901: You too.
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1901: Why would you move into Tyrolia?
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1902: Just stirring up a little trouble. ;)
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: Oh, huh. Getting Munich might have set me back.
25 May 13 UTC Spring, 1904: mmmm....
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1905: slick move to Tunisia there
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1905: er, to Western Med
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1905: Warsaw's going to be annoying. :-/
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1905: I was debating the merits of grabbing Moscow, but I think Galicia's probably a better place to be atm
25 May 13 UTC Autumn, 1906: Advance notice -- my internet is starting to hiccup. It tends to get bad around this time of night for some reason. I *may* end up needing to leave. If I think I will, I'll put a pause vote up at XX:55 (five minutes before midnight here). If I look like I've disappeared, please at least vote to pause and we can discuss how to resolve the game afterward. I don't think I'll be forced to go, but I may, so I thought I'd let you know in advance and not mar this fantastic contest with a late CD.
