07 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1901: How about that. We don't even have to ask for a power switch.
07 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1901: Haha, clever. I see what you did there.

You're by far and away the strongest opponent here by record... and I believe the only obstacle standing in the way of that top spot in the group. And I think I'm the only one left that can kick you out of first. This is for all the marbles in B group. Let's go.
07 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1901: I was tempted to insisist on G vs I because i think a split would have still given me the top spot. Although, I don't thing G vs I is as unbalanced as you, there does seem to be an advantage to Germany.
07 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1901: The stats seem to be fairly unequivocal... though in fairness to GvI, the stats were somewhat imbalanced on FvA because people couldn't figure out how to play France. I think there's reason to believe GvI is a different case, though. In FvA there's a fairly even number of centers on both sides of the contested areas; Ber/Mun/Tun are your three primary regions of conflict, and there are 15 centers on France's side of them, 16 on Austria's. In GvI your contested areas are Marseilles/Spain/Portugal and Vienna/Budapest/Rumania/Sevastopol. Germany has 16 centers on its side of that line; Italy has 11. Big difference.
07 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1903: Then we picked the right map to play on to see who should have the top spot. There should be no doubt that this is a perfectly balanced map.
08 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1903: Agreed.
09 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1906: Sorry I'm not able to stay and get more rounds in -- checked in really quick while I had a minute, about to head out.
09 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1906: Sure. You just wanted to gloat over the crushing blows in both games.
09 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1906: Haha. I'm pretty sure you're killing me in the other game. It sure feels that way. I like my odds here, not gonna lie, but not in the other game...
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1906: So... I looked at the league standings. I don't know how much we're allowed to let those influence the tournament, since there's no policy on that anywhere that I've seen.

But if we draw our two games now, you are guaranteed first place in the tournament. The only way you can't get first place is if I sweep all my games, which means winning both of these. And I have a win locked up against ezpickens right now. Two draws here puts me at 13 points, which almost assures me no worse fourth place. (It would take ezpickens winning the other game between me and him, winning all his other games except his series against myrmidon, which myrmidon would have to sweep. That puts the two of them at 14 points in 3rd/4th. And in any other scenario, one or the other [or both] can't get past 13.)

So basically, if we draw these two up, you are guaranteed first place and I am for all practical purposes guaranteed fourth place. You get your top spot for the playoffs -- the only thing you have left to play for -- and I have my qualifying spot -- which is satisfactory for me, because I'd rather assure myself of a qualifying spot than gamble it away if I lose these games to you for sake of getting a slightly better finish.

So what do you say? Do you want to draw these right here and guarantee yourself the best possible finish and me a finish I'll be happy to take?
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1906: Actually, it gets better. I just made the winning play in that second game against ezpickens, so now if we draw here I'm guaranteed third and you first. I'm putting my votes in.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1906: It would be the same if we split right?
Also, what would happen if you lose both, you still earn a spot, right?
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1906: If we split, yeah, it would be the same.

If I lost both there's a (narrow) chance I could get left out. It would put me at 13. And I *think* that myrmidon and ezpickens could still get 14 points apiece. I'm not positive on that either way and I REALLY don't want to be wrong.

I'm leaving the ball in your court here as to how you want to handle this. If you *really* want to risk the top spot (unlikely though it looks that that will happen) for nothing we can keep going, but I'm fine with a probable 3rd place (and definite 4th place) finish and leaving you the preliminary Group B crown.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1906: I know that I "should" accept your offer to draw, to guarantee a first place spot, but then I would miss out on a very good game.

Particularly in this game, it is the best 1v1 game I have played so far. For right now, let's keep playing.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1906: Very well.
15 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1909: I'm going to go ahead and concede now. I'm being overrun on my left flank with nowhere to recoup.
15 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1909: You have support to Ostberg.
15 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1909: Good game. I think it could have gone either way for a good portion of the game.
15 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 1909: Agreed. Do me a favor and let's not run the score up, okay? Please just grab your 19 and leave it at that.
15 Jul 11 UTC ok
