Autumn, 1905: it really depends on the opening. If Italy moves north to Tyrolia at once and Germany doesn't bounce them, it really hinders the German expansion early on.

Autumn, 1905: true, but the position of Naples is such a hassle. After the first couple turns it takes at least 3 or 4 moves to get a unit from there to anywhere useful.
