21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: So is anyone else worried about france not putting in orders? That would kinda screw the whole game yea?
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: It's not a name I recognize either.
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Eh he still has eight hours. It would not surprise me to see the orders get put in.
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: i would really want to restart if he misses, but it could really affect the game. how do others feel?
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: It won't just affect the game, it'll screw it up completely if he doesn't show. No show, no build, and no france. Even worse than a normal CD, he'll have 0 units on the map, meaning anyone could walk right in.
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: There's no default build on this map? I know that Build Anywhere has one...
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Even still, unless there's an auto CD, a nmr here would likely become a nmr in the first turn too. With only 1 startijg unit, the beginning phases are even more critical.
21 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Yay!
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Yay! A NMR! : /
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: So what now folks? NMR has happened.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: I'm flying the draw and cancel flags.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Draw, not cancel. I don't think France should get back any points at all.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: I don't believe the slight advantage to England and Germany is sufficient to unbalance the game.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Really turkey? You don't think that the fact that francce will basically cease to exist (only having 1 landlocked SC) will unbalance the game? So if we played a 6 player game without france it would be balanced?
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Italy also benefits as the Med coast west of Italy will be uncontested.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: He'll get 7 of 10 points back anyway, England. *shrug*
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: If you want a perfectly balanced game, you'd leave out Italy from the classic game anyway. It's not perfect but it's not worth dropping a game just because one player doesn't play. Either way, we should wait until France officially CDs so that he doesn't get any points back.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: I (and I think most people) would disagree that leaving Italy out magically makes it a perfectly balanced game. I mean, think how easily Austria would die to the R/T juggernaut without italy. This would force france to defend the Med almost immediately or see turkey near the iberian fast. In short, it gives the game little flexibility dince everyone would have to prepare to stop the very easily formed R/T
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: Yeah, Italy's three med ports are essential to slowing down Turkish naval power.
22 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 1898: This is not the point, the point is, the original game is more biased in favour of England and Turkey and against Italy and Austria than this one will be biased by French inaction.
