27 Nov 16 UTC Spring, 1860: GameMaster: Please remember that negotiations before the game begins are not allowed.
27 Nov 16 UTC Spring, 1860: Info: This is a choose your country game.
27 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: What was Richmond doing? Nothing should ever simply hold if it has options - and you had the option to support yourself into Kentucky.
27 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: That was true. I also had to option to bounce you out of WDC.
27 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: Yes. Either of those would have meant I couldn't threaten Richmond this turn.
Speaking of, what was the thought process behind the moves around there? Obviously you were looking to attack, but what made you try that rather than defence?
27 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: I thought it would work.
28 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: OK, why did you think it would work? What would you have been doing in my position that would have allowed your moves to work, and why did you rate those suspected moves of mine as more likely than what I actually did?
28 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: It was just a hunch but it didn't play out sadly :(
28 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1861: OK, but why did you think the hunch would pay off?

You need to know (or at least, have a good idea) what your opponent is doing in order to out-play them. Any time you consider a move, you need to consider what the opponent wants to do, and how they're likely to do it. A hunch can still be useful, but only if it's guessing which of several equally good plans the /other player/ is going to be running with, which will then inform your own moves.

Any questions I ask are more for you to find the answer yourself than because I need/want to know it.
28 Nov 16 UTC Spring, 1862: I thought I would be able to move in but I wasn't.
28 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1862: Why did you think you would be able to move? What moves dd you think I would be making that would allow it?

Seriously, these are questions you need to be asking yourself every single move. If your answer is just going to be "oh, I thought it would work", with never an actual thought as to WHY, you're never going to improve.
28 Nov 16 UTC Autumn, 1862: Alright. I'll answer them. I understand I should question my moves.
29 Nov 16 UTC Spring, 1863: Hm... Better anticipation that I thought.
29 Nov 16 UTC Spring, 1863: Nice work bouncing Bermuda; puts me in a bit of a pickle for being able to clear build sites this year.
30 Nov 16 UTC Sorry about the wait - it's been a lot of schoolwork and I just try to make the deadline for the phases. It'll be much better once midterms and stuff are over.
30 Nov 16 UTC GameMaster: Confederacy voted for a Concede. If everyone (but one) votes Concede the game will end and the player _not_ voting Conceede will get all the points. Everybody else will get a defeat.
30 Nov 16 UTC I'll start a new game soon, alright? Thanks Mouse for the teaching.
30 Nov 16 UTC No worries. Just send a PM with the game and any password when you make it :)
30 Nov 16 UTC Thanks :)
01 Dec 16 UTC Also would you mind looking at this game for me? Just if you have time - let me know if I have even the slightest chance to survive lol

I'm friends with Beta, Zeta, and Delta in that game, and enemies with Kappa and Lambda
