26 Mar 17 UTC Spring, 1461: I'm not voting for a draw because I think that I or several others deserve one. I just want the game to be over The irony of the draw vote status now definitely highlights the need for the hidden draw vote to be a default feature.
26 Mar 17 UTC Spring, 1461: You all could cancel and save some of us little guys from having a defeat on our record. This is really a whack job scenario that usually results in one or more little guys who never had a chance getting another defeat on their record.
29 Mar 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: Just noticed what a goofy province Foggia is.
29 Mar 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: Yeah, usually it isn't noticeable cuz it's the same color as surrounding areas... but the color change makes it stand out.
29 Mar 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: It'd be far more entertaining with an army in Foggia but someone keeps requiring to suck my armies NW for some reason.
29 Mar 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: How dare they! <trying to look as innocent as possible> Don't they realize that the combined Napoli/StD(I mean SdC) alliance outnumbers you? A solo is darn near impossible here, so that isn't a likely scenario... But the game did liven up a little the past year or so. You were probably getting bored. Maybe they were just trying to give you something to do...?
31 Mar 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: Let me just say, before all the panic starts, remember, I have no fleets... A solo is not in the cards. I just hit the only person who might have considered using their navy in cooperation with me. So, one year of good growth does not a win make. Hmmm, sounds like something Yoda might say. I am not taking my draw vote down. But I will continue to try to push on until the draw is finalized. I think I started an outright rebellion around the entire region! Next thing you know, Napoli will start working WITH Venezia! Let's watch and see what happens next...
01 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: The dynamics of shifting alliances in the mid-game are my favourite part of Diplomacy. Oughta be interesting, especially now that I'm in full popcorn mode.
02 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: I feel a solo coming on...
02 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: I hope he gets it. I really do.
02 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: It's a looooooong way to Rome still......
02 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: Don't jinx me Mary!
02 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1461: Autocorrect.,, Mapu
06 Apr 17 UTC It was great to play against this caliber of players. I enjoyed all your messages. I know some are mad it ended this way, but without a navy, I was going to be stopped soon. Decimal, I'm glad you were able to stick it out, Thanks to everyone for staying to the end.
06 Apr 17 UTC Is it worth playing more test games? I think the ap has some merit to it that with some minor adjustments in the starting positions can make it much more playable.
06 Apr 17 UTC GG folks!

Kaner and I talked a podcast or two back about getting some of the players from this game for an EOG interview.

If folks are interested I'm thinking approx:

Brisbane (Australia - Queensland) Sunday, 9 April 2017 at 7:00:00 am AEST UTC+10 hours
London (United Kingdom - England) Saturday, 8 April 2017 at 10:00:00 pm BST UTC+1 hour
New York (USA - New York) Saturday, 8 April 2017 at 5:00:00 pm EDT UTC-4 hours
Chicago (USA - Illinois) Saturday, 8 April 2017 at 4:00:00 pm CDT UTC-5 hours
Los Angeles (USA - California) Saturday, 8 April 2017 at 2:00:00 pm

We'd do it via a Skype interview of around 45-60 mins.

Anyone interested?
06 Apr 17 UTC 4pm on a Saturday? I will be drenched in sweat from doing yard work... But at least you won't smell me... I would try..
06 Apr 17 UTC I knew you guys would draw as soon as I was eliminated...
I think the most impressive diplomatic move I was aware of was bozo convincing both Amby and Jimbo not to attack him in order to help against the other, virtually at the same time. Good comeback.
Uhh, maybe on the interview, but haven't I earned Kaner's hatred forever?
06 Apr 17 UTC Thank God this thing will be off my defeated list. :-D
06 Apr 17 UTC Open to different times but generally speaking this is the most optimal time for everyone's time zones from prior experience.
06 Apr 17 UTC Thanks for the invite. I will try. Weekends are crazy.
06 Apr 17 UTC You don't want me on that one. I hate this scenario. It is too unbalanced and if you draw a little nation, the odds are you will be eliminated and lose your bet, get a defeat added to your stats, and go down in vPoints. That's why I only played if it was unrated and even that has hurt my W/L/D/S percentages.
06 Apr 17 UTC Aren't all Rinascimento games unrated?
06 Apr 17 UTC Well, you can play it for points. I assume it still applies vPoints to it as well if you do. But I could be wrong.
06 Apr 17 UTC @YCHTT
W/D/S/L personal stats are a heritage from Webdip. Those stats makes some sense there, since the great majority of games played are Classic.
Here in Vdip, the scattering of Variants and settings is so high, that the W/D/S/L stats become meaningless.
My opinion.
For example I have a ridiculously high Win ratio. That is because I've been playing a lot of 1vs1 , where the odds of winning are higher.
What would be my personal Win ratio if I had played Classic only? And WWIV only?
Think of it.
I think that you're overly concerned with that W/D/S/L indicators.

In any case, Pasta Pizza&Popes was made unrated.
That means no D-points change and no V-points change.
FYI, the Variant Rinascimento was recognized to be so skewed, that even though you play it rated, NO V-points change applies to the players involved.
06 Apr 17 UTC Ok, no one at this state has said "Hell yeah", just 3 maybes.

Can I please firm up numbers as it takes a little coordination to get this happening in 48 hours time.

If we can't get any definates say within the next 24 hours we won't worry.
06 Apr 17 UTC Amby, I don't think that I can handle that event. Due to language and time.
However, if you like to have me, I am keen to provide a written interview. As same as you did with Flame some weeks ago
06 Apr 17 UTC @Ruff,
as same as we've been discussing during this game... I totally agree with you that with some minor adjustments to the starting powers deployment this variant can become much more enjoyable.
this was a draft discussion over Rinascimento shortcomings/improvements, before that this game was underway.
It would be great if we can put together this group's experience in order to craft a review of this variant.
06 Apr 17 UTC Hi Decima - if you or other players want to do a written EOG that we cover off instead of interview that's cool also.
06 Apr 17 UTC If people do that just submit by close of business Monday next week so we can cover it off on Wednesday (Australian time)
