One question,
Wouldn't it be best to wait and see how the sea lane play test works before starting another game? From what has happened so far (a long ways to go!) I can see plenty of positives for this but quite a few negatives as well, isn't it best to let the play test be ....tested?

This is a recruiting thread for a game getting underway. If you do not want to play, then do not play. The sealanes concept needs more than one time around the track to assess things. Please be a part of the experiment or GFY.

I would disagree on a game needing to be played multiple times before you can judge effectively. That COULD be the case, but to make this claim at this stage is frankly wrong. Myself, I would think discussions should be put off for a while still. At the games end or maybe even near games end at the earliest (and that game is far from that point right now).
That being said, I see some pros for sure, But I also see plenty of cons and think discussion is required but overall, I think with some tweaks it could be a very good idea and the test is going well. But "real" discussion should be held off for the time being (that's just me mind you)

I would love to hear people's thoughts about the game at this stage. The early game has as good as played out, and most of the small powers are ellimated. The next stage is in full spring and regional players are coalescing into major power blocs at the moment.

Provided that no-one gives away their identity in this, I see no harm in talking about the game

You are trying to recruit players and tell people they can F off? Who would actually choose to play in this game? and the statement that the game needs more than one time around the track to determine if it works well or not is nothing but foolish. In that games discussion regarding this concept, several have already mentioned some things that should be corrected, yet you want to ignore those who can point to definitive problems and play anyways? How about you GFY instead?

EVERY time I try to help fix things we know is not working, I am met with GFY and other such childish nonsense. Total rude behavior that seems to be encouraged. And anything to change is met with resistance. This is not a very pleasant community is it?

I am here for the game. i did not create the gunboat game, but i am a strong advocate of games being played regardless of whether or not they need to be tested again.

Yes there are some really awesome guys here, but it's like that saying one bad apple can ruin the barrel. But it's not just ONE such bad apple (I could deal with that) it's this pervasive attitude throughout the site, no respect for those who have ideas counter to your awn and no appreciation for any who suggest things might be improved if...

Gluten Free Yogurt is the sort of language and verbal assaults we are exposed to here every day, day in and day out and frankly, I am done with it. Nobody wants to lend any sort of respect or air of dignity to this site, instead we have support for childish behavior that absolutely spreads to all around it. and if that's not bad enough, it even rubs off on others, myself included and I am not that person nor do I want to look like that person. Clean the place up or watch people who actually care about quality and gentlemanly behavior exit forever.

Go ahead and argue, go ahead and have have heated debates but "gluten free yogurt"? That sort of thing is embraced by far too many here and I do not want to be associated to it plain and simple.

I do agree that I thought that was exceptionally rude when I read it last night and made me stop considering whether to join the game.
