The site is unable to charge the maps of Imperial Diplomacy II so it's impossible see anything of what happened in those games.
Can someone resolve the problem?
Thanks.

Been a long time since I played on vdip. I have a game under my belt recently but I'm hoping I can get a good one together to welcome me back.

You should do well at this. I got 16 out of 18 and would have gotten about 3 out of 18 if I'd never played Diplomacy.

18 out of 18
very very easy with multiple choice

Diplomacy is an excellent geography too, and many players have game to VDip as a result of some cat in China who teaches his students the game for that reason among others.

I make a point of writing out the territory names in full press and PBEM games to reinforce the learning experience. It helps when the map designers use the proper monikers, but WWIV does a pretty good job of it.
Pretty easy 18 of 18. They could've gone much harder

18 out of 18. Could've been much harder. West Africa coast would have been annoying, so would oceanica region.

That was one of the things i tried to stay true to in the WWIV map. Yes, there is need to combine some areas while splitting others up, some leeway is also required in some areas.
Some examples
In North America the area called Nebraska is quite a bit off. While it does cover Nebraska, it also covers much more but I mapped it so it kept the same basic shape of the state of Nebraska. Kansas City is shown in Kansas while we (most of us?) know their are 2 KC's and the bigger one is on the Missouri side but heck, it's one metro area and I centered it slightly off for strategic reasons. Alabama and Mississippi were combined and simply called Alabama (sorry to any Mississippians out there). In China, I was not (and still am not) as knowledgeable as I would like to be. I painstakingly poured through many maps and fairly accurately followed province lines...again, many were merged together of course but the lines are fairly accurate and the map makes for a "decent" teaching tool in that regard. Heck, even the supply centers are placed where they are in real life, it would be easier to simply place them in the middle of their territory but accuracy was key whenever possible.

Mapping the seas was just as difficult as it's not as easy finding maps with sea spaces clearly marked on them but the nice part there is the actual sea "borders" were easy to play around with to suit my needs!
The problem I did have and mention all the time was in giving some areas too much influence/power. St Helena in the Atlantic is little more than a big rock, hardly important. Similarly the Falklands, Diego Garcia, Azores, etc. Some pretty big cities are not mentioned due to being too close to another big city some smaller cities are better situated for strategic reasons, Hell, "Catholica" (Or as was originally named "The New Holy Roman Empire") is made up out of the blue as are most of China's territories (but even with all these, I attempted to focus on historical accuracies as best as possible)

Go to town on such minor errors, you will find many!
But as a general "guide" it's not that bad.

Great job with the map Tom. I think 6.2 is masterful and definitely the best global map I've seen. Kudos.

Did you get 18/18 on the quiz, g-man?

Yes. I'd like to think I would have had I never played Diplomacy, but playing all these variants of regions all over the world no doubt helped reinforce my memory immensely.
I can't see them. Stupid test is *not* colorblind friendly.

WWIV 6.2 has some improvements, but it took perfectly functional scenarios and mucked them up. I look forward to the integration of ideas from 6.2 and Sealanes in progress.

In other news go figure that Diplomacy players are acing a Geography quiz. Thanks for the confidence boost, Mapu!

what was mucked up? I can adjust it if so. I started yet another somewhat massive alteration a few months back (then my computer died). It started with the 6.2 version as it's base so anything you think was done poorly can be easily tweaked still.
The massive changes (all VERY preliminary mind you) were mostly focused in north eastern Asia. I did make minor fixes all over the globe, that was the area of huge change adding another power centered in and around Vladiviostock if I recall?
That area really did need another power to balance things out but adding a power is not as easy as it sounds, to do so requires more supply centers (some home and some neutral for the entire region) and it also then requires more non sc spaces as well, the entire region was really heavily altered. I think it helps balance things out for everyone in the area and even should help with more conflict between Asia and North America. I really wanted to get back to it but it's stuck on the laptop, the computer itself works but the monitor crapped out, I need a new laptop to hook up to the old and transfer files to, I will get it figured out eventually but for now it's just in limbo!
But that limbo may help, while I will avoid the drastic sea lane idea (not saying it's bad, I just want to stick to conventional maps) but maybe I can learn some from that as well to help reposition a sea space or three?

and the big problem with any revision (especially major ones) is how they play out in your head one way but sometimes play differently in reality. Even a single tiny change can have ripple effects throughout the entire game. Changes are seldom spot on from the get-go!

This would require special adjudication in the end game, I guess, but the idea sounds interesting. Anyone else interested. Please don't come in spouting how it isn't real diplomacy. Some of us don't care. We just want to have fun playing a game that uses the fundamental rules set of Diplomacy.

Just updated to the latest wedDip code.
Please report any problems in the ModForum.
This was a large patch and there might be some problems. I will try to fix them as soon as possible.

Please note: There are some additional (wrong) RR-stats, as webDip installed our RR system on their site too. At the moment there additional stats do nothing and are wrong. I will migrate the data to the new system if it's working on webDip.

Rating system favors draws
Rating system in vDip seems to have made some sort of "poker" out of Diplomacy. I have a suggestion: draws should only give half the points.
