I too found that site first. It has better offerings in terms of quantity, but quality games are here.

Same here. It's my understanding that this site came first. In my opinion, in general, the folks over there are more arrogant and mean-spirited on the forums. I have, however, run into some really cool players.

Webdiplomacy was the first, this is a spin-off.

They're both fine, good stuff, bad stuff...

You will find some awesome people on just about any Diplomacy site (and there are quite a few). You will ALSO find jerks on those same sites....just like real life. But overall, I would say you check out other sites until you find one or two that you prefer. And notice I said one or TWO, nobody will hold you hostage to one site only. I guess it's like buying a car, the car i prefer might not be the one you prefer, we all have different wants, needs, comfort levels. Some of us will be fine with the one car while others may want/need two or three vehicles? It's all personal and you should feel free to check them all out. Many have been around for well over a decade, many are fairly "new", find what you like but know you are welcome to all, maybe you will feel like an outsider at first? Don't think like that, just jump in (as you did here) and see how those people make you feel!

i think i will stick with this site because everyone at webdiplomacy hates me for multi-accounting and cheating- which i dont do

You were cheating on that site, there is no doubt in my mind. While you are welcome to this site, I do ask that you be more mature on this site, mainly don't spam to forum to bitch at the mods (especially mods from a different site) and don't create multiple accounts.

yes, i did make multiple accounts on that site... only after my first (and only at the time) account was banned... they banned me for absolutely no reason the first time... i even said i dot metagame and they still banned me... i will be much more careful on this site now that i know it is not ok to respond to emails that ask you to respomd within 3 days <---- sarcasm

You seem to be trying to get banned here as well. Odd. Anyway, you were metagaming, since you created alliances with people you knew through means that are not deemed okay by the mods there. You also neglected to tell the people you were playing with that you were friends in real life.

@DC: The original account was created mid-october. One of the banned accounts associated with your name was created 2 weeks ago. 3 others we're created in the last 2 days.

Since you created your second account 2 weeks before getting banned, you cannot claim you weren't cheating initially.

This is simply based on the fact that in the forum that DogeKingofPINGAS (http://webdiplomacy.net/profile.php?userID=56820) claimed that he was a multi of DC35 and was banned a few hours later.

I'm taking his (your) word for it that you two where multis.

fasces is right, although I must say your arguin is weak fasces:

If I say 'I'm a multi of fasces' and then get banned for being a multi, that doesn't mean you made a second account. Just saying.

Multiple accounts would not necessarily be metagaming. If you set up another account so your identity would not be known in say a political discussion? When you use multiple accounts to gain ANY sort of advantage, that would be cheating.

That said, I know of all sorts of gray areas when it comes to "cheating"
Forwarding others emails is frowned upon by some but is it cheating? I would say no but don't do so because some think it is (and forging/editing such forwarded emails is so easy to do, I would never trust it to be real anyways). I know of some who set up email accounts that are similar to their competitors. Lets say you were playing England and the French players email was QRSTUVW@GMAIL.COM, that English player could set up an email QRRSTUVW@GMAIL.COM and send the German fake information. While posing as another, it was the Germans responsibility to see through this. Is that cheating? Some say yes, some say no, I never do so again because of those who frown on this.

Heck, the game is based on lies! You need to lie to win, it's part of the game and when you have such a game, these gray areas regarding cheating are all the more gray!? But multiple accounts is probably cheating! (two in the same game is 100% cheating!)

I was in the game in question, and from what I can tell Texas(DC35) and Mexico were allied right from the start. I have reason to think (but won't know until the game is over, because its' anonymous players) that Mexico is also from the same school, because when I stabbed him he sent me a whole bunch of private messages that could only come from a middle or high school student. My favorite being :
"Spring, 2004: Wow, your, a douche"
It's funny- even if they were metagaming, they were still amongst the first nations to lose.

@Tomahaha: that would be true if there were no written rules. The rules state you can under no circumstance have more than one account.

Ahh, if them's the rules then no doubt about it! (and I have no problem with such rules as long as they are known) and it's funny, you would think they could get their punctuation correct at least? We all know that "You're a douche" shadygrove ;)

Sounds perfect, he admits he was wrong in doing something he had not known was wrong to start with but has learned and grew from the experience. You can't argue with that nor can you hold a grudge forever!

I play both here and there, have for a long time. Thus site is fun with the variants, but the play over there is in general more serious and better

Vdip is best for variety, but Webdip still seems king in gunboat and partial press games

Not to mention the live games. I had lots of fun with that as well.
