Imagonnalose Mini-Tourney
Hello friends!

I have a little mini-tourney that I would like as many of you as wish to do so, play a series of 1v1 tactical diplomacy games that will allow me to find some good quality 1v1'ers to play against. I know there are a few of you who are quite active with these types of games, so I will present the following guidelines:

Need replacement for best position in game
gameID=17646

I am Britian and I am sick and tired of submitting so many orders per diplomacy phase. Would like a replacement, but don't know how the whole replacement thing works so you'll have to walk me through it.

variants with less than half scs for solo win
what happens in variants where less than half of the scs are required to win if multiple people meet the requirements, and are tied, or even if they are not.

Goodbye vdiplomacy
A couple of months ago I started loosing interest in diplomacy, and started frequenting this site less and less. Now that my last game is finally over, and I am resigning from my post as Admin and am taking what will hopefully be a temporary leave from this site.

I want to thank Oli for the site, which truly is the best diplomacy site on the web, and I've had a lot of fun over the four years I have been a player and 2 and a half years I have been a moderator. If I ever regain my passion for diplomacy, I will certainly rejoin this site.

I also want to thank the community, all the players, who have participated in diplomacy, I have been in a lot of entertaining and competitive and enjoyed most of the games I have played here.

I wish everyone luck in the future, and I must say good bye.

Fasces -

Must it be so? It's a shame to "lose" someone who exemplifies alot of the qualities that make for a good dip player, even if it's only temporary. Hopefully, your passion is reignited in the near future and you can come back to vdip.

Until then, thanks for all your hard work as a mod, and thanks for all the fun times as a player. If you ever want to come back, hit me up and we'll arrange a great game!

I have not dealt with you but wish you the best. I went through this myself a few times as a moderator on another site. I hope your situation was like mine, you simply need time to recharge your batteries. This game of Diplomacy can really get to you over time, stabbing and lies, they are part of the game and okay for a while but too much of it (done to you or BY you) and it starts to eat at you...time to De-Tox and chill for a while.

If this is your situation, let me give a word of advise, when that "itch" gets to you again, continue to wait another month or three longer, let it build. It really is like recharging a battery, yes you can do a quick charge but doing that only works for a short time and if done too often might just ruin your battery. Do a complete charge and really WANT to come back and it will serve you better!

If you enjoy the absence (heaven forbid!) then good for you! (but sad to see you go) You do what you need to do!!

Sorry to see you go, fasces. I have taken a short sabbatical, myself. And just on a whim, I decided to check back in. I was hoping to see you start up the next 1v1 tournament soon. But perhaps someone else will take on that task. I hope to see you here again someday.

Bye fasces, nice to play with you and thanks for being a mod. One question before you go... I always thought your name was a slur on the word "fascist", but recently I was reading a history of Pompey and Ceasar and was surprised to see the word "fasces" used as a tool which symbolized political power in Rome. When I saw it, I immediately thought of you. Can you tell us what is the meaning behind your name?

@Raro...that is where the word fascist comes from.

interesting- I recently found that out. I guess it makes sense... all parts amounting to a stronger whole.
GOD (1791 D Mod (B))

Fasces were, as already described, symbolic axes, worn by bodyguards called liktores. They were a sign of the power of those people. The higher the position of a politician, the more liktores he was allowed to have.
Mussolini wanted to re-build the Roman Empire and took over a lot of its symbols and rituals (eg pulling your right arm straight into the air to greet, which Hitler too took over).

Good luck and thanks for your work as a moderator. If you find the fire again, I recommend playing no more than two games at a time. Cheers!

Westeros (Game of Thrones world) Variant
So a while back I made a Westeros variant on paper to play with some friends of mine and it worked pretty well. I was wondering if anyone on here who knows how to code would be able to help me get it up on the site and/or if it is easy to learn how to do.

New Variant Idea
Ok, so I have what I think is a pretty good idea for a variant, but I know no coding whatsoever. Is it relatively easy, just a bit of reading an research, or should I partner up with someone who does? If so, would drawing my map out on Photoshop help?

I'm an amateur coder, and I want to know how to go about making a variant for diplomacy. So can someone who has coded one please say if there's source code to modify, what IDE to use, stuff like that. Thank you.
