Bounce question
I really should know this, but thought I'd double check.

Let's say I have an SC that I want to build in. I move a unit out.I then send 2 units to both "attack" that SC. Now let's say one of my opponents attack the SC too, but support it. Now a straight 2 vs 2 results in a bounce, but what about a 2 vs 1 vs 1?

Support Rules and Dislodgings
I'm guessing you guys play by strange rules. I've never seen this not happen outside of here: One, if a force gets dislodged, the move cuts supports/convoys. Two, to cut a support/convoy, it has to get moved towards. The supporting or convoying unit doesn't have to actually get dislodged.

Is Diplomacy Ultimately About Luck
Years ago when I first bought the board game for a group of friends, some of them didn't want to play because they saw the game was all about luck. That idea still rings in my mind from time to time.

Is Norway Undervalued in 1066?
Something I notice when playing 1066 (v2) is that England and Normandy always do battle, and Norway usually has a lot of leeway to mop things up. I guess the larger size of the North Sea spaces give the illusion that Norway is farther away, but in reality, it's just two spaces away just like Normandy.

Rational Moves Test
You guys could really use some sort of test to license people to play games in. It's annoying when irrational players ruin the game for rational players by allowing third players to win after overrunning them.

Does Drawing in WTA Backfire?
I was wondering if the logic behind WTA draws isn't necessarily reliable. Draws allow people to make alliances, and instead of drawing against the solo winner, they simply draw among themselves instead of pursuing a solo victory. Is there a way to disable drawing so this doesn't happen?

Does Anyone Want to Play a Live Classic?
It's the weekend, so I figured maybe there's a handful of several people who want to play a classic game with 10 minute turns.

Please post here if you're interested. I'll check in regularly over the new few hours in case there's interest.

out of interest - what variant would you like to see as FoW?
This is purely out of interest. Add your variant of choice below, or if it is already on the list add a +1 to it. For me it would be:

kaner406 (2103 D Mod (B))

The back story for KW901 would be pretty cool though; it's 901 AD you have a map of the world as you know it, but who is controls what territory is beyond your knowledge. Information trickles through to you about barbarian hordes on the farthest edge of the known world. Do you have what it takes to establish an empire that shines a light in a dark unknowable universe?

Since this is purely out of interest:

KW901 together with this tweak:
people is only able to send & receive messages to the players that they come in contact with, when they are in contact with, namely, those visible within the foggy border.
This should be due to the impossibility of sending ambassadors thousands miles away and having them back alive in the same season.

That would result in both partial information (FoW) and partial press.

The tweek that you're referring to is actually pretty cool when put in play. The guy running around here talking about maps that he designs (but never plays on) has a variant called Explore, which uses that same concept. I adds an element of urgency to making contact with players that is not necessarily conquest based, and really puts a premium on diplomatic interaction. It's almost like a gunboat game that evolves into a regular game as it goes along. Very cool.

I was thinking of on with outsiders arriving... Possibly Picts/Armoricans/Irish in first wave, then Norsemen and Yupiuk/Innuit (and perhaps Japanese and Chinese plus a massive increase in Athabaskans, Utes and Apaches) then English, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedes, French and Russians .

Probably to make it manageable it'd have to be colonialism from 1400 onward with Norwegians, English and Basques in first wave then in 1500 a free-for all)

is it just me or does anyone find it "funny" to have a game titled "Known World" suddenly changed to Fog of war? The "known world" is now a lot of unknown... not that it would play badly, it's just humorous is all!

I would LOVE to see KW901 and WWIV done as FoW, but if I only have one vote, since those variants are getting votes, I'll go with American Empire IV. I also love the press tweak that Decima Legio brings up!
