We banned a couple of prominent members, who quite understandably relocated here.

Shocking though this news must be, you don't own this place, Draugnar. vdiplomacy is a sister site of webdiplomacy and its member base was charitable enough to take you on after your ban on webdip. As I recall, one of the key requests they made was that you don't drag webdip drama over here.

You don't have to like me, you don't have to respect me, you don't have to do a damn thing for me, but if you've any decency whatsoever you'll respect the wishes of those who took you in and leave it. We're equals here, like it or not, with equal right to be here.

Anyway, SYnapse, if you do go through with this and create a separate forum like that, I'd suggest leaving the Diplomacy aspect out, contradictory as that might seem. After all, that's the point of this forum. If it's a supplement to this forum, then it would likely just need to contain the "off-topic" stuff like political discussions, no?

Once the new forum has a few more discussions going on I will make a notice on the site to redirect interested players from here to this forum. If it works well enough I can make this notice every few month to redirect some more new players.

Syn - not really fond of you new idea...it doesn't pop up on the left when I come to check my games -- i.e. it is not integral. Therefore, it is just another place on teh internet, only loosely affiliated with this place because you made it. Plus, the format - meh. Yuck.

What makes the forums work (over "there"...) is that you log on to check a game, see some (crazy shit) interesting discussion on the left and jump in.

It is that (crazy shit) interesting discussions that keep some people coming back, even when they are not involved in an active game.

So the idea that some (over there) discussed was a tabbed forum or something...or some sort of thing where a topic was checked with attributes (anything goes / game related / whatever ) so that people could filter the forum based upon the attributes,if that makes sense.

This does seem a ....uh....peaceful place. By that I mean mundane. Apparently this site is a gaming site? lol

SYnapse: regarding the Anything Goes forum, what constitutes "illegality" here? US law would probably be sufficient to get the webdip Anything Goes feeling, UK or other European law strikes me as being too likely to be restrictive though.

Why is anyone even advocating an "anything goes" forum?

While that may have been a truly unique (and some say wonderful) aspect of some other website on the internet, it is not what this place is about, by my understanding...and I suspect the move in that direction would only bring about a lot of misery and tears from overly sensitive eyes.
