Classic Chaos?
I'm trying to start a game of Classic Chaos and have posted already on a new games thread, but I felt that to ever hope of reaching enough players, it needs more publicity. I had some people sign up but they've now left so if there aren't any takers this time, I'll take the hint and give up but please if anyone's interested, I really love to give this variant a try, it looks like such fun.

Dare to dream: The Empire of Israel
We can pull it off. Basically I propose the following attacks: USA -> Syria, Iran -> USA, USA -> Iran, USA -> Saudi Arabia. The United Islamic State -> Israel, Israel -> UIS with the creation of an empire. akurio.com/Marlen ... thoughts?

Games like vDiplomacy, but also TripleA?
I'm looking for a game that has vDiplomacy's simultaneous turns, asynchronous multiplayer, and ideally a light or in-browser UI, BUT also has a much more complex game system (not to say that Diplomacy is bad because it is simple, but rather that I'd like an alternative).

BENCHMARK GB TOURNAMENT
Hi all, I’d like to check if there's some interest for this 20-players Tournament idea.
In case we got a few people less or many people more, I could change within a few days the structure to adapt it to the new number, but the ideal number would be 20. More to follow.

The Reconquista circa 1030? A diplomacy variant
I was just reading about the Spanish inquisition and it occured to me that an interesting time period would be the Spanish reconquista. After a google search I found this map:

Potential Fix for Convoy Orders
Is there a way to fix convoy orders to where there is a set of blue lines leading from the convoyed armies' location, to each of the convoying fleets, to the end location, rather than a red move order directly to the destination with connecting blue lines from the fleets

Country assignment
I do not know how many of you played on the "diplomacy judges" of old...

But I was wondering if someone might be interested in introducing the semi-random country assignment that they used, and whether it's doable from the point of view of the code.

Negotiation? What's that?
It’s been more than one year since I played my last full-press game.
Well… I want to start another one in order to check if all those gunboats made me forget how to play diplomacy.

@Tomaha: "I assume Rinascimento is only a simple variant".

No, it's not. The imbalance between powers is 0-4 in starting centers and 1-4 in starting units. Several powers just can't hope to win unless extremely unlikely lucky conditions are met, most of them can however hope to survive with some dignity till the endgame, although there are two or three (Siena, France, Pisa) that have very difficult to achieve even that and are almost invariably destroyed early on.

These problems may be attributed to poor game design or to a different concept of game design, debatable. It is still a popular variant for some reason and I have played it several times in the last few months (luckily always getting playable powers). I'd say the powers can be sorted as follows:

1. Venice: the big guy, nice starting corner position, many neutrals to grab and strong potential to control around 1/3 of the board (further advance may be hindered by stop the leader alliances, forcing a draw).

2. Genoa, Naples and the Pope: strong but with various issues that compensate. Very playable anyhow.

3. Milan, Savoy and Firenze: weak but still playable. Turkey may also be in this category, even if it begins with no centers and is bound to lose at least one unit in the first year.

4. Siena, France, Pisa and Ferrara: almost designed to lose. Exceptionally, in my experience, Ferrara and France may survive and even begin to thrive in their minimalist modesty, but always well behind the level development of the powers of category 1 and 2. It's possible I guess that the same may happen to Pisa. Siena has no chance unless it deceives and stabs a very gullible Firenze.

The game typically ends in draw, largely because of stalemate lines being favored by those silly Appenine impassables and because of stop-the-leader alliances. Also lots of drawers over here.

I was thinking that pot type discussions have actually weakened the enrolling process.
I am proposing to play this one UNRATED, so the problem does not arise and we can play with the minds free of points.

I hope this decision is ok with everyone in the list.

Settings recap:

Phase length: 2 days
Bet: 20 old-points
Variant: Rinascimento
Country assignment: Random
Pot type: unrated
Anon game: semi-anon actually
Messaging rule: full-press
Rating requirements: Reliability 90+ , Min Phases 100+
NMR policy: NMR:∞/1

Starts on 07 April.

I played as the trolls (Light Green, upper-left corner of the map). Why didn't my fleet bounce the Pirates from the High Seas (Autumn, 1)?

"Draw" games?
How to end a game in a multi-player draw? Is it possible on this site? If so, where is it documented. Is there a way to grant "proxy" to another player for any period of time? Where would that be documented? Is that enough questions for one post?

Hey, Butterhead
So Texas is seemingly looking hard only at Shaka Smart. Gregg Marshall from Wichita State is seemingly not being looked at in the same way. For all of the hoopla over the Final Four run, do you have any insight as to why Shaka Smart has never won a conference title in either the Colonial or a gutted Atlantic 10?
