Hello all! Since I've joined the site, I have played a large variety of games and have started or finised 199. I want to invite anyone who is interested to play in my 200th game on the site :)
I think they have one of these for WebDip, so I figured I might as well make one for VDip too. Post on this thread or send me a PM with your location (no need to be precise with this - you can just give a nearby city if you want to) and I'll add you to the map.

Hello. Just signed up because I wanted to ask some questions.
What are the differences between vDip and webDip? Why do they look so similar? Was there a schism somewhere along the way? Are they two separate sites; can I have an account at each? Opinions of webDip?
They are separate sites, they just use the same (open source) programme, so you can also have accounts on both sites I like vdip more because here are way more variants and i like the people way more...the player base at webdip is bigger and the forum more active
You can have accounts on both. Assuming you are the guys who posted on webdip, youll get most of the answers you need there. webDip has more players on their site so they have a more active forum and a bigger group of elite players who play well.
Vdip has many more variants to choose and play from, so if you get tired of the original board, (which is what almost all of the games on WebDip are) this site is nice to play on. people here do tend to be nicer in general, so some people stay here just because of the community. Vdip also has many more features to insure quality gameplay that WebDip lacks.
Lots of people just have one account on each site, like me. If you dont mind having to manage two accounts, it's great to have duality and you can get the best of both sites.
I am an admin over on webdip and play mainly on that site, but I really like some the variants there. WebDip focuses on the classic map and the players there are experts on it. You can get some very intense games since everyone has played on the classic map so many times. This site has a ton of variants, I personally am a fan of Ankara Crescent, which is why I play here as well. The forum over on webdip is more active, but also less friendly then here. Both sites have their pro's and con's but I've found both of them enjoyable enough to maintain accounts on both.
Like someone explained over on WebDip. The base code for these sites was developed by the webdip site owner Kestas. Oli, the site owner here does a lot of extra customization coding to tailor the site to variant development. The base code is opensource so anyone is welcome to it, provided they follow proper citation/references.
gameID=13235 This was one of the most irritating games I have ever played. I was Spain. I posted a thread a few weeks back about being aware of SCs needed to win. This was the reason.
Are you like me and had people describe the NBA Finals to you as the "old" Spurs against the "young" heat? There are exactly three players on the Heat's 15 player roster who are younger than the mean age of the Spurs 15 man roster. The median aged Spur is Tiago Splitter. For the Heat it is Udonis Halam. Five year age difference for those of you scoring at home.
Hello everyone, I've been developing another (very different) variant on the lab. This one is Europe during the First Crusade. I'm starting my first test game so I need 6 others to join. The link is here http://lab.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=94 Tell me what you think and join up!
here's the game url. Germany is crippled, but your entry could turn the tide... not gonna tell you which side to pick, but I think it'll be clear what choice must be made. good luck.
Stemming from the recent thread re: cooking recipes, I came up with an idea for a game. This is directed particularly at Guaroz, mainly because he expressed interest in the culinary arts, and hails from Italy; however, the offer is there for anyone else who might be interested. Please read below.
I am leaving for my honeymoon on Monday and have recently learned I will have no internet connectivity while I'm gone. I currently have 5 open games: Alcavre, Mystery Diplomacy, Celtic Britain, Indians of the Great Lakes and Colonial 1885 (though I expect Mystery Countries and possibly Celtic Britain to be resolved by monday).
If anyone will do me the favor I would appreciate it. I don't want to CD in my games and I have never missed a turn.
About the Italian Rinascimento variant, it's one of my favorite variants and definitely one of the more meticulously made ones, but "Tyrrhenian Sea" is misspelled :/
gameID=14376 Autumn 1903. Notice that three units (Sevastopol, Black Sea, and Wales) were simultaneously ordered to Armenia, none of them under support. The move from Wales succeeded; the others did not.
This should be considered an error and bug-checked in the Ankara Crescent variant.
On a suggestion from PE, I am interested in finding those people on this site who like to play competitive Diplomacy - the way it was first created. No pre-arranged draws, no unbreakable alliances...play to win, just like the objective says.
