25 Sep 17 UTC Spring, 1860: Info: This is a choose your country game.
28 Nov 17 UTC GameMaster: Bulgaria voted for a Concede. If everyone (but one) votes Concede the game will end and the player _not_ voting Conceede will get all the points. Everybody else will get a defeat.
29 Nov 17 UTC Ruff? What the heck were you thinking? That was an uber Spring!

LOL. Good job Tantrumizer. I should have let BoBRoss live a couple years back so he and,Ruff could work things, out and focused on stopping you.

Grate, you won the tourney to and I took second. I needed this last game to draw to hold top spot.
29 Nov 17 UTC Gratz. Stupid phone.
29 Nov 17 UTC I was thinking that Bulgaria played like an idiot and Italy could no longer be stopped? WTF was the point of antagonizing Ottoman, who had finally come around to stop the solo. You got greedy and went for it when it wasn't there for Bulgaria. After it became clear that Bulgaria was playing a solo or bust game against all odds I took reckless chances hoping to delay Italy, but the reality was I was outgunned for years, and only his over conservative play made it last this long.

Congratulations to Tantrum. Thanks to Bob for some spirited battles, but recognizing the solo dangers in time to put all aside to try to stop it. Again all of that was spoiled by Bulgaria's greed.
29 Nov 17 UTC Sorry man. I admitted my screwup. But honeslty, Spring's moves were all on you. Why would you not have self bounced in Patrai? I couldn't hold Beograd so was trying to set myself up to take something else back and was counting on you to slow the loss down there. Instead you gave him the farm! LOL.

This is not to denigrate Tantrumizer's success. He outplayed us both. I was hoping for a repeat of Game 6 where I came from second to solo. But when game 6 ended and I saw figured out who was who in this game, I knew that wasn't gonna happen. But then it was too late.
29 Nov 17 UTC Thanks guys. This was a come from behind victory only possible for a corner power. I had a pretty bad start with the Austrians in Torino and the Greeks in Palermo, but Serbia and Ottomans rescued me indirectly from that nasty situation. Then Serbia suffered from heading towards a solo without the benefits of being on the side of the map.

I was pretty worried that Bulgaria would reach the solo before I did, as he was making quick progress towards the end there. I think I was lucky to avoid a stalemate in the north.
29 Nov 17 UTC I was very surprised by Greece's final moves though. I had spent quite a while trying to figure out a way to guarantee having the 19, but couldn't figure it out. I was resigned to losing either Athens or Kalamata and then grinding it out from there.I'm happy to take the win now though, as the pressure was about to build on Tirana.
29 Nov 17 UTC I'll try to provide my closing remarks shortly.
29 Nov 17 UTC I was so tantalizingly close to a solo, but without a corner, I overexpanded and couldn’t deal the deal. Well played.
29 Nov 17 UTC First of all congratulations to you Tantrumizer, for pulling in the victory not only in this last game but also in the overall tournament. Very well played.

When it comes to this game I am quite pissed. Both RUFF and YCHTT, though especially the latter, have been a bit of a c*nt to me. Ruff, you were probably concerned that my early naval presence in the Ionian was posing a danger to you, yet I actually sent it there to aid you in a campaign against Italy. That is also the reason that i didn't defend Salonika, as i was planning to try a long term alliance with Greece. Yet you attacked me, got stuck in Bursa and took away Heraklion from me. We settled for an alliance again a bit later after some beautiful fighting (it definitely were spirited battles ;-) ), yet you once again attacked me shortly after in Bitola and Izmir when I finally thought we had something good going. Unfortunately all of this meant we kept slowing down each other.

YCHTT, there is really so many things i'd want to write right now. You have been pretty much distrusting of me the whole game through, even when it was obvious I wasn't ill-willed towards you. I recognised the threat that was Serbia and wanted to aid you in the fight. Whenever you demilitarised, you always sent an unit back as you were seemingly expecting me to strike you after all. I should've read these signs properly, as this almost always means shit will be hitting the fan later, and it did. I gave you supports and support holds, yet you gave me nothing in return. I helped you against Serbia and got nothing in return. Great that you want to play for a solo, yet it was definitely a dick move to do all the damage you've done to me. In a very subjective fashion, i can only state i am very glad that you lost to Italy on this one ;-)

A more general remark: Thank you all for the interesting tournament. It has taught me quite a bit about this variant and it was fun to play these games with you guys. Not one of my better performances, but most certainly an enjoyable experience. A special thank you to RUFF for finishing this tournament despite his decision to go on an undefined vdip hiatus.
30 Nov 17 UTC Yes, Bob, I readily admit to my shortsighted shortcoming when it comes to seeing a solo in reach. Had I stayed at 13 or 14 when tantrumizer was at 16, I would never have stabbed, but he and I were so close together the whole time that I figured I had a shot at pulling it off even though I didn't need it and that was, quite simply, stupid on my part.
30 Nov 17 UTC Tantrumizer, yep, I was going to set up for Tirana. Had Ruff opted to try and take back Kalamata, he would have succeeded and we likely would have stalemated long term.
30 Nov 17 UTC Frankly I think that another 7 game round robin experiment would tell us a good deal more about the map after having played each nation once. Maybe we'd do things differently or the same, but have better fortunes. I enjoyed the unrated nature of these games because I could still play to win (even though I did not win any) without any worry of the fucking ratings and points whoring.
30 Nov 17 UTC Will you stay around and do another round of 7 games, Ruff? I'd love to play it again.
30 Nov 17 UTC I would play another round of unrated gunboat games to give Ben additional sample results for analysis. My own opinion is that very little if anything should be changed until some trends can be established. I did poorly overall in this event, but did very well with Romania after a tough start. I'd like to see how things open up after we've all seen how things play out start to finish.
