15 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: GameMaster: Please remember that negotiations before the game begins are not allowed.
15 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Antiloquax): We have big clouds? Am I missing something subtle here?
15 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Actually you are right. This is the literal translation. However "nubes" also stands for "threat" or "danger". "A cloud of threat" is also acceptable. So when you take a stylisized translation you get "we have big threats" or "we are facing big threats/danger". I appreciate the presence of other latinists around here :)
15 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): I hope I didn't make a mistake with magnas. It's a 2nd declension adjective, right?
15 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): The joke is with "Habemus Papam". I changed it a bit.
15 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Antiloquax): Well then.
Ego pontifex maximus est. Ecce! Magnum galerum habeo.
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Sed multos hostes habes. Galerus tibi non innabit longo!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Antiloquax): I'll have you know my hat serves as a flotation device in the event of an emergency.
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Your 50 000€ hat!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Let's keep up with the Latin!!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Hostibus Domini delenda est!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (ubercacher16): Hi!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Salve!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Antiloquax): Welcome Milan!
Salve Mediolanum!
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Tristan): Hi :)
I never studied Latin, so I am totally lost :p
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Antiloquax): You are not missing much. Here's the meat of the conversation.

Me: I am the Pope. Look! I have a large hat.

Not me: But you have many enemies. The hat will not keep you afloat long. (?)

Me: <uber-clever flotation device comment in English>

Not me: The enemies of the Lord must be destroyed.
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Hostēs Papae hostēs Mundi sunt
16 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Vauban): Ecce! Hostēs Dominī pervenērunt! Oppugnate!
18 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (teacon7): So I read this and my first thought was that you meant "we have great n00bs." :)
18 Jan 18 UTC Spring, 1454: (Antiloquax): We have great noobs too. We have it all. Omnes habemus.
