23 Feb 19 UTC | Thanks for the game, all. Sorry for the stab England - you looked like you were going to romp through France if I didn't! And Spain - I hadn't intended to attack you until you attacked me! |
24 Feb 19 UTC | Good game everyone! I don't think he would have "romped" through France! I found myself in a tough spot early when Munster became powerful. I had to stop him from soloing, but I wasn't going to sit idly by while England and Spain did all the fighting. So I chose to keep fighting Spain while making sure England kept up his defense against Munster. That was a fun game, lots of interesting move possibilities with the rivers and bridges. |
24 Feb 19 UTC | Not having played this variant before, I felt like I made a poor showing. I made a play for the closest neutrals, which resulted in fighting 3 other powers. Being Holland, right in the middle of the board, I probably should have focused all my attention with the northern only neutrals, and looked to forge an alliance with someone. Ah, live (or die) and learn! I thought Munster and France both played strong games; congrats to all 3 finishers! |
24 Feb 19 UTC | Well played everyone! Munster, I was surprised you didn't stab me earlier. I got spread out all along the coast and that made me quite weak, I think. I felt like I more or less gave Munster all of Holland... Well played setting up the defense in the end France. |
25 Feb 19 UTC | To clarify, France - there was a point where England and I were still allied, and you were focused on Spain (who probably had the upper-hand over you at the time). England was beginning to move south, and I was scared that you wouldn't hold for very long against both England and Spain. I possibly should have waited very slightly longer so that England had already attacked France when I stabbed, just to make the Anglo-French alliance against the solo slightly more awkward to initiate. |
25 Feb 19 UTC | Oh, yeah. I remember now. Well, thanks for getting England off my back! |
