08 Oct 11 UTC | Spring, 1880: salutations fellow diplomers!! |
14 Oct 11 UTC | Spring, 1881: Jesus, Mary and Joseph.....Germany has completed 21 games on this sight and has sent a grand total of one in game message. |
14 Oct 11 UTC | Spring, 1881: he's been here tonight, just played a very fast paced 1 vs 1 against him |
16 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: France and Russia, we all know you have a team thing going here and all, but with the bogus delays and bogus play in this one plus the white flag now from England a draw would be appropriate when he is gone |
16 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: White flag austria? I believe I've held out quite well thus far. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Drano can generally be counted upon to make the optimal move. I've simply correctly postulated what his optimal move will be several times; however, he has actually played quite well on a move by move basis. I got a bit of an advantage on him early, and with a little help from Russia, I've been slowly strangling him. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: sorry for jumping the gun on Drano's pending death, folks |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Gopher - I actually should have figured that lasdt move out and still had 2 scs. I'm disappointed I didn't see it. I blame not paying too much attention to this game anymore. Further, id still have a chance if Russia would actually talk. Several times I've offered to help russia solo, and yet, not even a response. Quite disappointing. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Drano, you had two options, and that one made the most sense. Were you a little dumber, then I would have hit Yorkshire from Edinburgh to secure London. As is fairly obvious, Russia and I have been allied since the beginning quite firmly and his solo is near enough that all he really needs is my neutrality. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Ahh but that's assuming you'll let him solo. Somehow gopher, I don't believe that. At least, I hope you won't. I respect your gameplay too much to believe you'll willingly allow a solo. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Solo wo't be easy to achieve, and not my style of game. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Not your style to try to win? Well, thanks for admitting it. I don't understand why people play and purposely try not to win, even when its offered to them. Add snorri to list of people not to play. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Maybe you do'nt like that, but I'm generally seeking a draw - unless I find a situation where i'm sure to win. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Its not that I don't "like" it, its that I feel you're not playing by the objectives set out by Diplomacy rules. The objective is to get 18 scs (or in this variant 20 I believe). The objective is not to only go for 18 if its guaranteed. Everything a player does should be working towards a solo, the ONLY stated objective of Diplomacy. By seeking a draw, you are working against the stated objective of the game, and essentially playing a different game. |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: so why did you voted a draw ? :) |
17 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1887: Because there is a point where a solo is no longer realistically feasible (yes I know some powers have come back from 1 sc to win. Those are extenuating circumstances) and a draw becomes the best possible result for a player. Win>draw>survive>defeat That's my mantra. Ill always try to win - if I can. Barring a chance at a win, ill fight for a draw If it seems as though I won't get a place in a draw (due to someone refusing to negotiate), ill fight to survive. If I have to die, ill try to screw the guy who screwed me. |
28 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1890: I voted the draw too. France ? |
30 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1890: France, are you just trying to get rid of England before the draw? Advise ... |
30 Nov 11 UTC | Autumn, 1890: I'd like to know the answer to that as well. |
01 Dec 11 UTC | Autumn, 1890: Either Russia or I can still rather easily win. I think it is contrary to the spirit of the game to not try. |
