10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: This is filling up fast |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: I'm excited |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Is there any strategy to a first move other than "Get somewhere with an SC"? |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Well, I'm a little miffed that Austria has A Trieste and I have A Naples. They could move to Venice this first spring. Of course, Austria knows that an Austria - Italy war in classic usually results in the death of both of us, so I doubt they would do that. But I am rightfully wary. |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: France - I hope we can be friends as well. Piedmont DMZ? |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Italy - You didn't need to ask. Similarly, Germany can we DMZ Burgundy for now? |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Oh absolutely |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: @Austria, you know the drill right? DMZ so we don't ruin each other? |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Um, looks like I need to report a problem to the moderators. I can only move my Naples unit to Apulia; I can select Rome, but if I refresh the page, it automatically switches my order to Apulia. |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Should we all vote extend? |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Would appreciate it. |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: GameMaster: Russia voted for a Extend. If 2/3 of the active players vote Extend the the current phase will be extend by 4 days. Please consider backing this. If the majority is not reached by "Spring, 1900" the votes will be cleared. |

10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: It’s going to be really interesting to see how the single starting SC will impact the game. The balance between the nations from the starting position for example. One of the reasons why Italy and Austria is usually doomed if they fight is the Italian control over Venice. It secures access to Adriatic, making Austria quite vulnerable. |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: I honestly think we'll just grab the same centers and it will be similar after the start, but if anyone pulls a rabbit out of the hat with a unique strategy (ex: england going for norway at the start assuming they'll just be able to grab Lvp and Lon at some point uncontested) that could have ripple effects |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: Fixed! No extend needed. |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: What a fun looking variant! @Russia @Germany @France: since my starting SC in next to the north Sea, I'd like to be able to hold on to at least a single SC on the European mainland next to the north sea. However I'd rather not make unilateral moves and I'm reaching out to you all on your thoughts. Of course, build anywhere and the single starting SC means there is a lot of flexibility, so I'm open to any suggestions from anyone. Right now I'm hoping for Belgium, plus Holland if Germany is generous, to form a small contiguous coastal area. If anyone feels generous now I'd love to provide naval support for any of their later campaigns! |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: I'd rather you went anywhere but Belgium as it is the closest SC to me and will necessarily slow me down having to guard against you. However, you staying out of the Channel is my biggest concern! Can we agree on a game-long DMZ there? |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: I can! As for Belgium though, where do u propose I expand if not there? I can't simply stay at 3 SCs on the island |
10 Jun 19 UTC | Spring, 1899: @England want to take all of Russia with me? |
