08 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (KINGIVANOV): Welcome. |
09 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Hercynian): Maybe I'll be in the Islamic part of the map for once |
12 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (edwardsjl910): Looking forward to playing with you all! Hopefully we fill up relatively soon! |
12 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Hercynian): Need to advertise this around a bit more, instead of only thinking to do so when it's gonna time out and you have to ask for an extend. |
12 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (KINGIVANOV): Lol. |
12 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Samuel, o Louco): I would say that I hope to be a country that is not completely surrounded by others, but I think everyone wants it |
13 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Hercynian): Other than coastline, aren't we all completely surrounded by others? |
13 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Samj): An outer edge power would be nice this time. Less frontier to defend... |
13 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Samuel, o Louco): I have a serious problem when I play: I make an alliance with everyone around me and I get stuck in my own territory lol |
13 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Samj): I have the same mentality... but usually by the third round someone has already shown they were not being honest, making them the target. Or worse, two or three around you decide YOU are the target after year one... |
13 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (KINGIVANOV): An outer edge power also leaves you with less diplomatic options. Muscovy especially, is tough to play, imho. |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Dale_Fuego): For some reason I really want to try Genoa |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (ScubaSteve): I've had the theory that the countries that aren't as well known (i.e. the aforementioned Muscovy) are super hard to play because other countries don't have a psychological sense of "who" they are and are, therefore, more "anonymous" and easier to attack. I have no basis for this other than getting gobbled up when I have had these countries. I would say that I have about a 85% chance that this is just a lame justification for my failures. |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Arado): Genoa must be even worse than Muscovy though, because instead of being a medium sized power in one area, it is a weak power in three areas. |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (ScubaSteve): Being spread out is tough. I do think it is a disadvantage. I like the dynamic of having a country with so much contact with so many other countries. My dream map would be a big one like this but with a few more countries with those kinds of chopped up starting locations. Getting the balance right would be a nightmare but could be really fun and interesting as we all play the maps and then debate what is a big advantage and what isn't. |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (DarkenedOutlook): Is it just me or do games no longer show how many players are left till full? |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (ScubaSteve): I had that same question about a week ago. I don't believe they do. Why that would be taken away, I can't imagine, though. |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Mattmaster123): 5 left I believe |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (LoveDove): Greetings, all. |
15 Apr 20 UTC | Spring, 1450: (Samuel, o Louco): Welcome chief! |
