02 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: GameMaster: Please remember that negotiations before the game begins are not allowed. |
03 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Enriador): Welcome all! Glad to have you back for another round. =) The game has the same settings as the first playtest and only one change for now: Italy lost its mostly useless second army and now has a second fleet in the west coast of Rome. |
03 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Enriador): Everyone got either their first or second pick, with three players going fully random. Looking forward to another great game! |
03 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Swede03): I like both the references to the Morocco crisis, but wasn't that in 1911, not 1908? |
03 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Enriador): Good catch! Indeed, the crisis was in 1911. The references are more of a poetic license - '1908' aims to capture the overall feeling of early 20th century diplomacy, marked by several disputes - most notably in 1905, 1908, 1911, 1912 etc. The variant could start in any of those years and still have the same theme. |
03 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Swede03): Yeah, that's true. |
04 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Bonatogether): I dislike the second fleet because it eliminates the Bohemian Crusher opening, although it might open up some more openings I haven't thought of yet. |
04 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Enriador): Losing the Bohemian Crusher is a downside for me too. On the other hand it opens up stronger variations of the Caesar and Key Lepanto, as Italy now can grab a build and slide into GOL/AEG as desired. Italy was also supposed to be the Mediterranean's early boss and with just one fleet Britain & France could effortlessly bully themselves into bouncing Italy in both Tripolitania and Tunisia. Now it should be more even. Besides, even with a second army, I suspect Italian interests will be steered more towards France/Britain/Turkey than Austria, at least early on. If Italy takes Switzerland in 1908 and one more center out of Tun/Trp/Gre, it could build: * Army Milan * Fleet Rome (ec) In 1909 you got a Tyrolean Crusher (three units on Trieste, mimicking Classic's analogue): A Swi-Tyr A Mil-Ven F Rom (ec)-ADR |
04 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Enriador): Just an idea, of course. I think that area is the hardest to balance right now. |
04 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (D-Mish): I can see it makes the French push for Tunis much less likely, but I like the knock-on effects. If A Casablanca moves to take Iberia, Marseilles and Paris can get involved with Belgium immediately. |
04 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (CYFI): I think the fleet is good as it allows for Italy to be a little more powerful. |
04 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Enriador): Just waiting on our Italian player to join us and we are set! I will be playing along with you this time, and will try to avoid bothering you with questions every other season. =D |
05 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Info: This is a choose your country game. |
05 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Apologies for the wait everyone. I took time off without looking at my pms. Sorry I didn't look beforehand. |
05 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: As in our last game I have extended the first phase by 24h to give everyone time to talk. Remember to report any weirdness you see, or any thought on balance. Enjoy the game! |
05 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: The interactive map for Edinburgh has the same issue as Warsaw did. |
06 Oct 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Gotta take a look. Thanks again Bonatogether! |
08 Oct 20 UTC | Autumn, 1908: Could we possibly extend a phase while I may not have the opportunity to move this weekend? |
08 Oct 20 UTC | Autumn, 1908: GameMaster: Russia voted for a Extend. If 2/3 of the active players vote Extend the the current phase will be extend by 4 days. Please consider backing this. If the majority is not reached by "Autumn, 1909" the votes will be cleared. |
08 Oct 20 UTC | Autumn, 1908: Of course! |
