13 Dec 21 UTC | Spring, 1901: Greetings |
14 Dec 21 UTC | Spring, 1902: I see that you've played this variant many times before. I can't recall if I have, but if so, it would have been a long time ago. I suspect you'll have the advantage of me here... |
14 Dec 21 UTC | Autumn, 1902: Hi, Maybe you're right, but your rating is a lot higher than mine... I don't think my advantage is so big here, even if the stats show that Germany has a bit higher winning chances in this map. |
14 Dec 21 UTC | Autumn, 1902: There are plenty of players that specialise in the 1v1's and are very good at those - sometimes specialising in just one or two variants, and these don't bring high ratings. My high ratings come through the larger games and where I am adept to swinging people to my way of thinking. There is no room for diplomacy in a 1v1. Its just a puzzle piece with an an ideal formula :-) |
16 Dec 21 UTC | Autumn, 1903: I think you basically won now :) |
16 Dec 21 UTC | Autumn, 1904: I went back and studied your moves in several of these games on this variant, as both Italy and Germany - looking at what worked and what didn't and what your responses were in different scenarios. I thought that I could predict your moves based on past games. |
16 Dec 21 UTC | Autumn, 1904: Your opening 4 or 5 turns in this game were identical to another that you played as Germany. |
16 Dec 21 UTC | Well, as you can see, I played this map many times but I'm still a beginner that cannot handle complicated tactical positions. |
16 Dec 21 UTC | I hope I'll get better soon. I guess the only way to get better in 1v1 diplomacy is to play the map more, or to play 1v1 maps in general. |
17 Dec 21 UTC | I usually don't play these games because there is an optimal formula for them and I prefer the variability of multi-game play. For this game, as I mentioned before I just went and studied you in a couple of games where you won as Germany and also where you won as Italy. After about turn 4 or 5, where you moves diverged from past games, I could see patterns though, where you tend to be more or less aggressive. But don't you prefer games where you can enjoy the unpredictability of multi players? |
17 Dec 21 UTC | Nonetheless, thank you for this game :-) |
