Let's see if we can get three more to fill out a third bracket, then have the three winners plus the runner-up with the highest score advance to the final round. Invite some players that might be interested.

I would be in favor of playing either four at once with each player taking a country in the same arrangement, or playing three at a time - one each from three different country arrangements, played linearly. Did that make any sense? I'm in between finals and my brain is fried.

How about, for each group, playing one or two at a time? This allows players, after each game, to assess their relative positions and determine their goals in the following game with respect to the current amount of points they each have. Since you got a point-scoring system, and you also talk about the runner-up with the highest score advancing, you sure want some calculations and planning from the players right?

well i would prefer as low as it can be :) I really need to get more points haha. I have a few games i'm doing well in with large pots, so give me a few months and i'll have a decent amount ;)

No problem. I tend to default to higher bets, but I understand and also this is an unusual setup, so we can just do 2 point bets.

I was asked about how many games there would be total, and I figured it was worth responding in the thread:

That depends on voting, which doesn't seem to really be happening. Most of these games that I've played have been settled very quickly, within a couple of weeks, so I thought playing a lot wouldn't be too big a deal. Then one game went on for a normal Classic amount of time, so you never know.

Ideally, each pool of 4 players would play at least 2 if not 4 rounds of 4 games, then the same for the finals. The small consensus seems to be 12 games per round, meaning 24 total.

That's with the format that was proposed in which a game would start with 4 random nations, and then three more games would be started with the same nations and each person playing each nation once.

I'd also be OK with just going with the hand we are dealt, and making every game random. I would probably still want at least 8 games per round though.

In terms of fairness, playing a set of 4 games with the same 4 countries is probably the best way to go, but I also think that making every game completely random could be a lot of fun, since between all the games we would get some pretty interesting country combinations. Since each game is only 2 and this is just a tournament to have fun, I would be more than happy to make each game completely random, but I would also understand if people would rather do the "more fair" approach.

If we are able to get 16 people, we have a lot of options for how to organize the rounds. We could have the top 2 from each set (8 in total) move on to a semi-final round, and the top 2 in each of those sets (4 total) move on to a final. Or if people don't want to play that many games, just have the top person in each group move on to a final.

As said before, can we actually avoid playing multiple games at the same time? Doing it one by one allow players to calculate their position (in terms of points) and figure out the minimum goal or the adequate strategy for the upcoming game(s). This is just likely how teams in the World Cup group stage calculate and plan in order to break.

I think it will be difficult enough to keep all the players on board for the time it will take to play this even at 3 or 4 games. Playing one at a time could potentially take two years or more. I do want to be sensitive to those that want fewer games, but I think we need to keep the overall projected time frame to something more reasonable. I think the goal for each game should just be to come out with the best score possible, and do your best to assess your rank and what kind of risk to take as we go.
