Fresh account up for grabs

Hi everyone. So a friend of mine tried to get me into vdip a few weeks ago, but unfortunately though I'm not going to be able to keep playing for personal reasons. I am in 1 Haven game, they have already had a couple of player disappear so I'm really just trying to do my best to not leave them in the lurch. 1066 variant description

I just barely hung on till the end as England in my very first game of 1066, based on the fact that
a) I didn't know what the norwegian army units looked like
b) I didn't understand whatsoever from the description that Hadriens wall actually has a moveable norwegian unit on it.

team-diplomacy!

i just came up with this variant: you play as 1 country with 2 players, either switching turns (autumn and fall i guess, otherwise someone could get only retreats and builds for example, on the other side, now the builds are for one dude...) or both players have to save and ready the same orders, being able to see the ones of the other and maybe a simple agree button to prevent mistakes... is this possible and/or a good idea?

New setting idea (see below)

You know how recently a turn limit was added to game (as in a game ends after x years). What if there was an elimination limit?
As in after x players were eliminated the game ends. Thoughts? While this wouldn't work on smaller maps, for the larger maps this could add an interesting pin on the play.

You can send messages to yourself ingame. Pretty cool. Could be used for notes and stuff I guess. I was bored yesterday and explored in the URL found out you could.

Hmm... It is very important to take as much as possible neutral supply centers at the beginning of the game to make a good start. The game is well designed, so that it is hard to say which country could get the most.
For now, I would not know for sure.

I've always had fun as one of the landlocked Asian powers.......Russia, CA, Sichuan.

But of course any game with Texas as a choice is a no brainer.

I've always thought that India starts in the strongest position, but in game play it seems to get ganged up on early quite often. Probably as a result.

I have only played as Amazon and Colombia, and out of the 2 of them, Amazon is SOO much better. but gopher is dead on, Texas= the best

I took over a CD'ed South Africa and ended up still alive at the end with 10ish SC's, but I never had a chance to get into the game much. I don't think it's an innately flawed country.

The only other time I played it, I played Western Canada and got kind of ganged up on, but I think it's also a playable hand.

I rather enjoy playing as more landlocked countries... especially in the middle of the map... on the edge of the map, you might forget which region connect to which on the other side of the map... plus it's REALLY easy to get into a deadlock with the opponent if it's at sea... then it's just up to who has more reliable allies/neighbors...

In the three I have played I have been Russia Amazon and Columbia My favorite so far has been Colombia :)

Butterhead was Colombia in like the three first games of the variant and was understandably irritated by the lack of randomness or new experience. I think that was the root of his dissatisfaction.

Russia-1
Iran-2
Colombia-3
I haven't played as Iran or Colombia, but I know that I really enjoyed my Russian experience... mainly because I won :P
I think everyone hates Egypt and I think I know why... every game so far... Egypt has died... performance-0

actually gopher, I have only been Colombia once... I was Amazon-Colombia-Amazon, and then I was Western Canada in the team game that got cancelled(therefore I don't count it)

I think I pulled Columbia twice now. the first time I was smashed by an aggressive Amazon, and the second time I took control of South America but lacked any Naval power to expand.

Now I always try to keep builds in reserve specifically to build fleets for Ron, espc. in this variant.
