New feature: Black and white chat-text....

Small new feature:
If you are colorblind (or can't read the text in the global chat for any other reason) you can now switch the text to black and display the countryname in front of the text...

WW4 Fog of War

I vaguely remember reading something on these forums about the fog of war variant of the ww4 map being in the works. Does anyone have any information about that? That would be an exciting and chaotic game!

Gunboat games?

I'm just curious. Since this game is called "vDiplomacy" a.k.a., you negotiate with people, why are there so many gunboat games where all communication is turned off?

actually most of the games on this site are variants of the game Diplomacy. And yes playing Diplomacy well requires effective communication between players. Gunboat is a variant of the game where players have made the choice not to 'communicate' (although some communication is still possible by action rather than words) and to focus primarily on the strategy,

In short, it's the least "diplomatic" variant of Diplomacy; more like several people playing RISK at the same time, but blindfolded.

Try fog gunboat no messaging or public message only( my fav) and the lies and miss direction are rampant.

Though fog games are problematic because you see the order arrows, effectively "seeing" more that you should

In FoW you see only the orderarrows if they enter or leave a territory you can see...

This is why I don't really care for gunboats. The discussion, misdirection, alliance, loyalty and betrayal possibilities involved in full press is my favorite thing about the game. Without those "diplomacy" elements, the game's just not as much fun for me. In fact, every time I've tried to play a gunboat, I end up getting bored and going all marauder, abandoning my SCs and just raiding across the map to cause chaos until I get eliminated. Which is kinda fun, for the record.

SHSID gamers

Anyone from SHSID who is actually interested in vDiplomacy (instead of playing because "it's required") post anything interesting in this thread I've created. For those of you confused outsiders, SHSID is a school, and at least 50 people have joined this game as part of our English class.

Fleets move question

If I have a fleet in Ionian Sea and Eastern Med, and someone has one in Aegan Sea, if I support into Aegan from EM, could Aegan retreat to Ionian?

What is everyone's 1v1 stats?

I am sitting at 73% win out of 52 games including FvA, GvI, FRvJG, Duo, American Conflict, EvT, and for some reason GvR.

Of course this will change a lot as the VDip Cup continues. What are everyone else's stats?
