I'd join if you replaced the Italy Vs. England Vs. Russia with Treaty of Verdun or Hundred, they're more balanced and the maps are better suited for a 3-player game.

VERY interesting tournament, butter, my congrats. I don't like all the maps, but I think I can do an effort and play what I have to. Before joining though, I'd like to know 3 orders of things.

First is games' parameters: Buy-in, phase lenght, Anon/Non, RR requirements, Victory Condition (standard? and PPSC?)

Second is NMR-Policy. Both as a game setting and as Tournament setting. The latter means, for example: what if a x number of players CD or NMR in the first to 2 years of a game?
Unfortunately, I've seen other Tournaments or SRGs ruined by NMRs. This is because in these cases always happens that those who had a bad start say that the NMRs are too many, the game is ruined and it must be canceled; while those who had a good start say that NMRs are not too many, the game is fine and it can go on.
So I think it's better you tell us now how you want to handle NMRs if they come, than having unpleasant discussions once games are ongoing.
Also, I'd hate to hear some TILER claiming the game needs to be canceled just because he had a bad start and hence performed his fake NMR.

Third is ranking rules and tie breaking. How do you make the ranking? How do you break a tie if, IE when the first WWIV ends, right after the top 18 there are two or more 19th?

@Guaroz, it was decided earlier that the buy in is Three Vdip points. It would have to be non-anonymous because otherwise we wouldn't know what the rankings where when the game ended, or people could lie and say that they were a country they were not. Since it's a tournament it might make sense to make every game but the last be PPSC, and the last one could be WTA.

Anon games become non-anon when finished - you can see who everyone was.

A) The game will be Anon.
B) Phase Length will be 36 hours. This will give people more time(especially with larger maps) to have Diplomacy, while not making phases super long.
C) Tourney Start Date: The Tournament will start around the first week of May, anyone who does not think they will have time for the tourney during summer probably should not join...

Now to answer Guaroz's questions(plus another big ticket question I know will come up)
1. Parameters: 3 , 36 hrs/phase, Anon, 80+ RR(maybe lower if a couple players are at like 78-79), Victory Condition will be standard on all maps except WWIV. WWIV will be 75 VC in hopes of we take it down to 19 before a Solo(In the case of a Solo). All games will be PPSC except for the Final, which will be WTA.
2. Anyone who CD's/NMR's in the first 2 years will be replaced by a spare(hopefully we can find a few). After the first 2 years, players that NMR more than 1 time in any one game will be replaced by a spare.
3. Ranking: Ranking will be by SC count. In the case of a tie, Ex: WWIV is drawn with Columbia and Amazon tied at 5 centers for spot 19- It will be decided by 3 Factors- A) Who grew the biggest, B) Who fell down to 5 the slowest, and C) How powerful the force they had to fight against was.
4. PAUSES/EXTENDS- All participants please read this!!! If you are going on any kind of vacation this summer, I need to know As Soon As Possible! If it is going to be longer than 1-1.5 weeks, please do not join the tourney. If it is going to be 5-7 days, I need to know leaving date and return date so we can make sure we all know when the pause will be needed. If it is 4 days or shorter, I need to know leaving date so we can extend.
All players that join this tournament should know that if an extend/pause was per-discussed and agreed upon here, or if it is an emergency situation(Family emergency, etc.) That pauses/extends WILL be given. No debates.

I will keep a tally of all requests for map changes, but will stop taking requests at 11:59 PM EST on 4/20. At that time I will post the requests I received on the forum for those signed up to vote for changing it, or keeping it the same.

I gotta say, Rat Wars does suck...it's holding back the Whittle Down tourney for over a month now! : )

And I'm wondering if Hundred will ever end once we start it. We played a test game and it became a stalemate since no one wanted to give anyone else the upper hand. Whittle Down might end in a 3 way draw!

I will play. 4 player maps usually stalemate quite easily, maybe a 5 player map instead? Also, most three player maps are an issue. Either someone wins very easy because a player ruins the game, or they are all eternal stalemates. Tournament should probably be decided on a larger map through a three-game series or something like it. Just a proposal. I will play either way

Agree with kaug on 4 player maps. Perhaps rounding up the 5 top players and making them play 3 games would be a better way to declare a champion?

In general, and given balanced maps, players of equal skill stalemate each other, so they turn to alliances. Once a situation arises where alliances become 2 on 2 from the start, its pretty much over unless someone screws up.

I have a question about the Africa games: will they be seeded (i.e. 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16 in one game and 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15 in the other) or will they be first come first served to both?

@Halt That is a great alternative. We should stick to games that have the same units. Also, should we try to stick to only one of each variant (doubles don't count for this)? That's just my opinion. For example,

Bottom 3- Europe 1939 v2 (on lab right now, should be out by the time the game happens)
Top 5- Europe 1939 v2

Round 7:
WW2, S. Am 5, Dutch Revolution.

@Halt- with your suggestion, players would be coming back from the defeated bracket in the 4th round, then more would come back in the finals... I was trying to avoid this because in the Whittle Down Tourney people were complaining that players could lose in a round, do good in the losers group, then come back to the winners, lose again, then come back still... I want to avoid that happening. If you can come up with a situation where that doesn't happen, I am willing to listen!
@Ninjanrd- Vacation noted. As for the Africa layout- It will be random. I will take the names of the 16 in the round and randomly assign them to a game.

Nice flow chart, but 5 should be eliminated from the Modern Dip variant, leaving 9 behind instead of 11, otherwise it is very clear and concise ~
