Woo Hoo! No longer a rookie!
Apparently 20 phases is the magic number to become a non rookie. That was really bothering me!

I pledge to the site to never fall below my current 98%+ rating!

Ok so, the brief story is, my church just had a big national conference where they decided to accept homosexuals as priesthood members and support gay marraige in states where it is legal. I just wanted to share that.

webdiplomacy.net: what is it?
I found a mysterious website called webdiplomacy.net. It looks like vdiplomacy and has a similar format, but it's not exactly the same. It has a very raucous forum, way more users, and has very few variants available. Anyone know what this is all about?

Time to start a new game in celebration of the diplomacy variant. To keep it simple, we'll ignore all the conventions that have occurred since 1991 with exception to the London 2009 convention, so I do especially like that one.
I'll start the game off with an army in Prague

Word Chain
This was something orginally made popular on WebDip. Let's try it out here. The rules are simple; each person posts a new word and the words posted before s/he, in order. For example, if I posted "Salutations", the next person to post would post "Salutations <insert word>" and so on.

As per blankflag's request, I'm asking people to step up their political debates here. Blankflag said that he will consider the move if this forum is more lively. Please, please, be more thoughtful and considerate. Please post more political debate.
In exchange, we can take back MeepMeep.

Diplomacy Etiquette
If someone makes a game and states in the title that it's "for noobs" why are people with 400 and 500 D, who have played that variant multiple times joining? Not going to name any names, but it happened recently and I don't understand it. Do these people just say "Well, this look like an easy way for me to get more points." Is there anything that can be done to stop it from happening? Maybe if there was a script that can tell if you've played that variant more than once in the past?

Feature clarification request: Special NMR-CD-phase-extend
“This special rule sends a country into civil disorder (CD) if it does not enter an order (NMR) and extend the phase so a replacement can be found. This works on all phases of a turn (diplomacy, retreat, build). Be careful, this might lead to locked games, if players leave and no replacement is found.”
Decima Legio (1987 D)

Quote from the New Games page:
NMR policy:
Default - Turns: 1 - Delay: 1
This rule will send a players into Civil Disorder (CD) if there are No Moves Received (NMR) from them.
Turns: How many turns this action will be in effect for. Be carefull, a turn has up to three phases. Example: A two will send the country in CD for the diplomacy, retreat and build phase of the first 2 turns (usually Spring and Autumn).
Delay: How much time to advertise and find a replacement player (the current phase will be extended by the current phase length that many times). A zero will send the country in CD, but proceed with the turn as usual. Countries with 1 or less SCs will not hold back the game from processing.
Any value greater 90 will set the value to ∞, a value of 0 will set this to off.

I’m rather embarrassed in asking this, but I’m not sure I understood the Delay thing.
“Turns” decides when the feature will apply.
“Delay” decides for how long the phase is extended in order to find a replacement.

So I assume Delay=3 means that the C.D. phase when the feature applies is extended 3 times its original length.
My doubt is:
is the phase processed anyway despite C.D. or is the phase not-processed likewise sometimes happens for spring 1901 CDs?

I must admit that I have never managed to understand exactly how the NMR policy works :/
The extension is there for you to find replacements, but does not guarantee a replacement. So if the extended phase runs out of time, it will still be processed despite no replacements are found.

“Turns”: decides when the feature will apply. And it will apply in all phases during the given turn.
“Delay”: The phase gets extended by another phase-lenght. Delay=1 => After a CD the turn is delayed 1 time, if no replacement is found it will not extend again. Delay=5 => if no replacement is found after the first delay it will be extended up to 5 times total. This is better than a simple extend, because the turn will be processed, even if there are some "Saved" orders.
There is a bug if everybody hav his orders finalised and one player CDs the turn will processed. I was unsure why this was happening and now I know where to fix this.

Good to know, I have recently experienced the lack of a phase extension and now I realise it was probably due to that bug you outlined.

However, my real interest was this:
which one is the phase that gets extended, the phase prior to CD or the phase after CD?

If you have a better wording for the game-creation-page let me know...

Oli,
yes, if “dedicated” players experience problems in understanding how the feature works, there’s probably something to fix in the description.

I may have a better wording, but I am not certainly the one that explains it best, since I am not native English and I have significant communication issues.

The feature itself is EXCELLENT, but if people in general do not know or understand how it works, the feature loses the most of its potential, so, on your point of view, it’s a lot of work you’ve done without the proper payback.

For this thread will die soon, I would recommend some native English to rephrase the Feature description, possibly filling it with an example inside:
“Here’s what happens with a setting - Turns: 7 - Delay: 3 …”

Question about reliability rating
Are some games excluded? I finished a 1v1 game and there were 23 phase changes, but right now the only phases I'm getting "credit" for are in my standard game.

Also, how many phases before I'm no longer a rookie?

Ripping off Butterhead's Idea
So Butterhead decided to launch an anniversary game to mark 3 years as a Diplo-dican. I realized that my second anniversary was on March 17, so I've decided to do the same. It's classic WTA, but with a 66% win condition (23SCs), 36 hr turns but early finalizing is encouraged, especially for retreats and build/destroy phases, and 90%+RR and at least 100 phases under your belt to play.

Fast WWIV game,
I would like to play a rather fast WWIV game, preferably with a 12-hour Phase but it could be more, like 16 hours for example, if players prefer.
Who would please be interested in playing such a game ?
