I'm fighting the zombieism..

I have no iPad/Pod/Phone/Tunes/Mac/etc. I have no smart phone of any kind (though I have a cell phone and no land line), no cable/satellite tv/netflix/internet tv.

My wife and I have one VCR/DVD combo, no DVR/TiVo/Blu-ray/X-ray/HD-DVD, one 19" flat panel CRT TV, no flat screen LCD TV of any kind. We have 2 game consoles. A Wii and a playstation (not 2 not 3, just plain playstation).

We have 4 computers ages 3, 8, 9, and 11. (those last three are in various states of functional/storage), Ubuntu and Windows OS, Mac at work..

I have no facebook/myspace/twitter/g +1/social brewhaha/big brother media tracking account.

I'm 28 and I just say no to zombieism...

I'm thinking it's high time I get myself a shotgun to ward off the rest of you zombies..

actually my wife and I are doing our bit for neo-ludditeism as well. I only have a generic mobile phone which I hardly ever put credit into, definately no smart phone etc.

We have no TV or Cable, if we want to watch a movie we run it through the computer (which is a crappy desktop). No game consoles. I have a facebook account - but have used it once in the last year - my wife has none. Neither of us use twitter/myspace etc...

I'm 30 and so is my wife, we enjoy the simpler things like gardening, and playing boardgames. We have hobbies that don't include conforming to the mass media's view of the world. Although I must admit I do read the newspaper every day.

Now I just need a rocking chair and a shotgun... :)

how interesting.. my wife and I are board game fanatics (Dominion, Carcassone, Settlers, etc.) as well and very much enjoy gardening (though this year's crop vanished under a three level canopy jungle of weeds because we both are (in my case)/ were (in my wife's case) finishing our master's degrees this summer.

We're also big into camping, but unlike my parents, we deem it sacrilege to take technology with us (Last trip they went on they picked a spot that had good 4G reception and brought their laptop and iPad). What do you do when your parents go zombie? Double tap with the shotgun?

we haven't played Dominion, but we have Carcassone (+expansions) and Settlers (+expansions), other bg we have are RoboRally, Zombies, Space Alert, Ticket to Ride, Alhambra and History of the World. Plus a few others. I'll list them all if anyone is interested.

The garden is defininately a large part of our life, it's hard to impart how satisfying it is to eat food that you have grown yourself. (not to mention home brewed beer :)

Camping is a great thing to do... in Australia though you only have to leave a town or city for your mobile connection to drop off, let alone 4G reception...

As for when parents go zombie? chain them to the fence, they can act like guard dogs... :P

BTW: Me and my wife like boardgames too. Our favorite boardgames are Pandemie and Cafe International (or something similar in English).

Lucky you! took me about 4 attempts in 2-player to 'win'. I quite like the board games that require you to work as a team against the game.

Ticket to Ride is great (+alts and expansions), and I'd be interested in Pandemic 2 (my wife is a big fan of the team work vs game concept rather than cuthroat competition games, hence why she's not on these diplomacy sites)

Dominion has the advantage over Settlers in that, if you get behind, you aren't stuck for the rest of the game playing a losing game of catch up. And in settlers, you can get stuck for several hands in a row with nothing worthwhile to do, whereas in Dominion it's rare to have nothing to do for even 1 hand.

By History of the World, do you mean TAHGC's History of the World with 7 or 8 epochs and you play as a different empire each epoch? That game is, in the words of kikker82, "... awesome"!

Vegetables of all types. At the moment we have growing:
Broccoli, Cabbage, Lettuce, Bok Choi, Chilies, Tomatoes, Corn, Onions, Spring Onions, Cauliflower, Beans (several types), Mint, Mustard, Garlic, Beetroot, Oregano, Thyme, Aloe Vera, Mushrooms, Zucchini & Peas (several types)

Last year we did lettuce, tomatoes, corn, onion, zucchini (great way to meet the neighbors), carrots, green beans, bell pepper, green chile, watermelon, pumpkin, basil, oregano, chives, and cilantro. We've only got about 72 sqft though so that was too much to do in one garden (several of those were pots anyways).

We've also got a stella cherry tree and a santa rosa plum tree (that tree has the sweetest fruit I've ever had, and this includes papaya, pineapple, banana--not the amercian style but the short fat sweet ones, and other tropical fruit fresh picked in Fiji).

Do you have issues with wilt virus in the soil when growing tomatoes over in Australia?
