Noob question
When are new units created? I've conquered 4 or 5 supply centres but still only have 3 units. The friend I'm playing against has 6. In depth explanation would be awesome. Thanks

New WWIV font colours suck dog balls
I greatly appreciate the new WWIV map, but seriously some of those font colours for players are horrendous. While it may not be a perfect match with their colour on the board, its something that needs majorly fixing.

I once saw someone refer to a modern map game whereby everyone was given a target on the other side of the map that they had to get to and hold. Does anyone know how this was set up (e.g. which did each country have to aim for?) and would anyone be interested in trying to set a game of it up?

@GOD....about 40-45 years ago, the Catholic Church started preforming mass in local languages as a result of the Second Vatican Council or Vatican II. The Catholic Mass was in Latin when my mom was a kid and there were a bunch of behavioral things like not eating meat on Fridays. That is where the "fisheater" in the web address presumably comes from. In the 1950s and 1960s, anti-Catholic slurs frequently focused on fish eating. "Mackerel snapper" or "salmon muncher" for example. I was once called a "potato nigger". To which, I laughed my ass off.

@sbvyl.....I took seriously your chosen topic the other day. If you continue regularly posting things like this, I will think less of you and regret having invested the time to have thought about the things that you wrote. You have a blog, perhaps your thoughts on religion are best left there. I am also a little interested in your placing of Louis XVI among Popes, Saints and Cardinals. I was a little surprised not to find Joseph de Maistre. Might I inquire as to how old you are?

@bluecthulhu.....he did not really discuss politics the other day. He did in fact put forward policy preferences which other people responded to by accusing him of being a political extremist. However, he never advocated or endorsed any political party or candidate or generalized ideology. Of course, mixing "traditional Catholicism" with economic libertarianism seems a bit eccentric to me given the thinking of men like Belloc and Waugh and Chesterton or the relevant Popes from the Gilded Age. I have generally associated politicized Catholicism with corporatism in terms of economic ideology much more so than minimalist state.
GOD (1791 D Mod (B))

...so they basically catched up to the Protestant/Anglican churches?
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
14 Nov 13 UTC
@gopher: Because you asked respectfully, I will leave it there. I included Louis XVI to show my contempt for the French Revolution. I didn't place Joseph de Maistre on the "Sidebar of Fame" simply because I hadn't taken the time to look into him. But since you brought him to my attention, I will.

Now as for my age, I don't understand the obsession over it. And this isn't you, personally, I was harassed about it over at webdip as well. For the record I am 34, but I would like to inquire why everyone is preoccupied with knowing my age.

Do you remember when I told you the traditionalist catholics would dislike you too when you left webdip sbyvl?

I was right!

"For the record I am 34"

Back on webdip you were 35 (seriously guys, you'll find him saying that if you dig deep enough), we even talked about how 35 wasn't an original or good lie.

"but I would like to inquire why everyone is preoccupied with knowing my age."

We all want to know if you're 12 as you seem or 13-14 in which case you are an even slower learner than expected.

For the reasons I talked about above, 34 seems like quite a stretch.

people who are 34 don't say "approximately 35", because we dread every number that brings us closer to 40. You would have said mid-30's. However, a 15 year old would most likely say "just about 16" Coincidence?
Besides, the only people who are likely to speak such rubbish in this forum are either crusty old people, or teenagers mimicking their parents.

It really would be quite silly for me to lie about something as trivial as my age anyway.
gopher27 (1606 D Mod)
14 Nov 13 UTC
The level of precision in age estimation hardly seems worth discussion. I say this as the person who brought it up. I will say that the prospect of closing in on retirement age should seemingly frighten someone who believes that the Federal Government is going broke and who advocates the dismantling of pay-as-you-go pension schemes all while fearing the inflationary destruction of savings. But this that is just me.

"14 Me"

@sbyvl....one, you seem to have been caught in at least one lie one way or the other.

two, the crises you seemed to be predicting should destroy all means of saving short of stockpiling ammunition. Hyperinflation and government collapse do not tend to result in positive returns on paper assets through which people traditionally save.

I am just so very happy that my estimate was correct. Thanks Retillion for the in-depth underwriting; however, we were all pretty certain of his pre-pubescent age. After all, anyone who makes comments like 'I don't mind getting older,.... blah blah blah retirement' is all b.s. because we know it's not work or even death that's bothering us. It's the possible inability to have good sex. Clearly sbyvl is a virgin.
