reliability rating
my reliability rating is only 90+ after some vacations in which i could not complete orders, so as i tried to join a new game, i couldn't because i already had 9 games. I know the way to increase your rating is taking over for someone who left again, but now apparently i can't do that either :P Any suggestions?

Noob question
When are new units created? I've conquered 4 or 5 supply centres but still only have 3 units. The friend I'm playing against has 6. In depth explanation would be awesome. Thanks

Allowing players to select their starting power?
I was asked to join a game and politely declined but did give the game a look-see. I was somewhat shocked to see it was not yet full but those already joined KNEW their power assignment!

Via land vs. Via convoy
The game will sometimes give the option of going somewhere by land or through a convoy. My question is, why would you ever want to go by convoy in these cases?
Dignitary (1028 D)

I think it's just the game giving you the option because it's within the parameters of the action.

sometimes it's worthwhile to move via convoy.
An example could be that you have an army in Albania moving to Greece,
your opponent also has a unit moving to Albania from Greece.
If you have a fleet you can convoy to Greece - effectively 'swapping' territories.

Or you can just support the army with that fleet :) Yet support can be cut, while a convoy can be stopped after dislodging the fleet doing it, so it's safer sometimes.

Here is an example of via convoy being used in a game. Go to Autumn of 2113. Amazon lands an army in Angola, a non-sc province. In Spring of 2114 Congo and Kenya attempt to force disband the army, by moving KIN to ANG supported by LUB.

The army survives by moving ANG to KIN via convoy. Had Amazon moved via land, his army would have been force disbanded, instead he gained control of KIN, which is a supply center.

Had Guaroz supported Ang to Kin rather then convoy, he would have bounced. So in that situation, the order he gave was the one that would lead to the best possible outcome in that situation.

Here is the only other time I have seen the via convoy been applied to a game:
gameID=12
In the Autumn of 1896, Kyushu wanted to take the supply center Usovo, he had 2 units that bordered the territory, however sadly Starr only bordered Usovo via land, and the unit he had stationed in Starr was a fleet.

However, given that Orleans was close to soloing, he couldn't move out of Ibresi or NES without risking losing the stalemate line he was trying to force.

In the Spring of 1897, he convoyed Ibresi to Starr and moved Starr to Ibresi. Now he had 2 units bordering Usovo, allowing him to take the supply center in the Autumn of 1897.

Whoa, going all the way back to game 12 on the site? Pretty cool :D I actually never thought that swapping territories like that was possible, thank you for the explanation Fasces!

I also used this option in this Dark Ages game: gameID=15196 in order to swap an army with a fleet. Check Autumn, 830. All the units in question were my own, but I wanted my army where the fleet was, and the fleet where the army was, so I swapped them.

New WWIV font colours suck dog balls
I greatly appreciate the new WWIV map, but seriously some of those font colours for players are horrendous. While it may not be a perfect match with their colour on the board, its something that needs majorly fixing.

It mentions in the new WWIV description that you can play version of the game with a UN rule, what is that rule? I think I've heard Tomahaha and someone else mention it, but I've never been clear on what it meant.

Extending the advanced options for game creation?
Hi,
what do you think about making some variant-specific features like BuildAnywhere, Pick your Countries or Fog of War a general option for every game?

Capture Your Capital
I once saw someone refer to a modern map game whereby everyone was given a target on the other side of the map that they had to get to and hold. Does anyone know how this was set up (e.g. which did each country have to aim for?) and would anyone be interested in trying to set a game of it up?

A Capitalist Plan for a Capitalist Country: Sbyvonomics
I for one am sick and tired of “moderate” and “compassionate conservative” politicians. None of these individuals are willing to make the tough choices necessary for getting America out of the hole. However, I’d like to make a few suggestions in order to stir the pot a bit. Here are five steps the federal government can take to fix the economic situation in the United States right now:
