I had this idea in mind some time ago but I did not try to put it in practice eventually.
The experiment will be about a normal Classic Fog of War, with a single special tweak regarding press.
In order to simulate Exploration dynamics (we could argue that the game is set in the Ancient age or in the Middle ages) you will not be able to communicate with players that you're not in close contact with.
"Contact" will be assured by Units and by SCs. Two powers having neighbouring units, neighbouring SCs or neighbouring units vs SCs will be considered "in contact".
Unit bounces are NOT considered "contacts". For example, F&G are not allowed to talk to each other in fall1901 if the armies in Paris and Munich have just had a standoff in Burgundy.
On the contrary, they will be allowed to communicate in fall 1901 if France forces the move with one support, since due to the position gained in Burgundy, the French army will be visible from Germany and at least the Munich SC will be visible from France.
In simpler words, you can't communicate with players beyond the Fog.
...and for obvious reasons, using the Public Press chat is forbidden.
During the retreat phase, the unit about to retreat will be considered to be temporarily in the former territory.
Last but not least:
There's not an option to disable communicaton with the countries out of sight range.
It is formally forbidden by the rules of this particular game but it is not forbidden in practice...it will be a Gentlemen's agreement.
At the cost of being annoying, I am looking for mature players only, since it is easy and it might be tempting to work around the single special press rule, especially for bad losers.
Be prepared to a limited-press game, a game likely to be ruled by lies, where misinformation is hard to spot.
Be also prepared to some oddities: Austria and Italy will be the only powers allowed to talk to each other in spring 1901.
Will Germany open Mun-Tyr?
