Bug report for Layered Map
So I'm trying to convoy an army from map 2 to map 1. I have fleets in the bordering sea territory in maps 1 and 2, and a fleet in the destination bordering in map 2. It SHOULD work, but when I try to enter it the convoy orders all disappear and it gives me an error.

Competitive Dip Round 2
So the first "Competitive Dip" game has finished, with Ruffhaus, Mapu, and myself ending in a 3 way draw. So I'm back, calling for Round 2! Who wants in? Personally, I'm hoping to try out Rinascimento as a "competitive" game just to see how it plays out!

Ankara Crescent 100% VCs
Usually, if you put a game on 100% Victory Conditions, it becomes rather boring - nobody ever fights for a solo, as it is almost always impossible, so everyone aims for a draw from the start.

game 4 doesnt exist...strange how well germany appears to be doing in 2 of three games...but that's discussing an ongoing gunboat eh?
yaaks (1157 D)

I would predict stronger perfomances by germany and austria as they have high concentrations of SC provinces around them and thus are less vulnerable to "ankara attacks".

Game 2: gameID=14705
Game 3: gameID=14970
Game 4: gameID=15070

^That's the correct link for game 4; the other was cancelled.

It seems that the central powers have a slight advantage in gunboat AC due to the fact that they are harder to suprise attack - however, from the testgame (and the few press games that have happened here) it seems that, with an evenly matched set of players, it's the corner ones (England and Turkey) that have the slight advantage, due to their greater mobility.

That said, it's not a particularly unbalanced variant - any power can do well if played well. The one exception seems to be England in gunboat, because everyone who is doing badly seems to seek refuge there. If you can predict and block these 'jumps', England is quite a strong country too.

Hi,

Just posting to remind everyone that voting draw is not allowed in this SRG type. Some people seem to have forgotten that...

http://vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=14705 was drawn after a CD with two people left. We'd been in a 3 way deadlock for quite some time and I don't think it was going to end.

So you wait for me to miss my first orders and then end the game in a rule breaking fashion. Real fucking classy.
jmo1121109 (1200 D Mod)
03 Aug 13 UTC
We'd both already had our votes up, me because I was sick of the game that clearly wasn't ending anytime soon, and I assume Austria for the same reason. I didn't check the game anytime before the phase went through or I'd have taken it down if I'd seen you at risk of missing.

So that was a horrendous game for Russia (me) is anyone going to EOG that one? If I start it, it will only go till like 1903 or something pathetic.
jmo1121109 (1200 D Mod)

I'll probably write up an EOG on that one tomorrow, I had no idea there were different CD rules in this game, or that making different CD settings was even possible. Sorry to Jim who really did not deserve that CD.

Apologies for that... I didn't think about this when I set the NMR settings. I just figured Serious was probably the best for a high-quality set of games.

In the other games, please nobody vote draw even if someone CDs. Remember, drawing is against the rules in this variant.

Just a quick update:
Game 4 has ended, and has been turned a lovely shade of blue!

Okay, so now that two games are over and two games are getting close to finishing I'm going to see if there's enough interest to start another. I've really enjoyed watching and playing in these so I'd like to have another one at least going.

Just two changes from the previous rules:

1) Due to the way game 2 ended - I'd forgotton the NMR setting worked like that - all further games will have no NMR setting, but instead will have Wait For Orders mode enabled. So that this is not abused, I'm going to have to reiterate the rule that you must have 200+ phases here or on WebDip and an 80%+ RR, or a very good reason why your RR is under that.

2) Because people have been voting in these games, and that was also what caused the problem in 2, I'm going to say that you are not allowed to hit any vote buttons from game 5 onwards. If you need a pause, PM me and I will pause it for the time you need (although getting a sitter is much preferred). The same goes for extends. No hitting vote buttons!

So, anyone up for a game 5?

Also, congratulations to Jeremyk2142 - impressive win as France there :) Also well done to Jmo, Bozo and Jimbozig for doing very well in 2 - I have no idea who that game would have gone to in the long run, as it seemed very close.

I'm really interested in playing. I don't have the 200 phases yet but I'm a top gunboater on webdip and have a 99% reliability rating here (missed 1 of 103 phases I've played on here as of this message).

You missed the or on webdip part just like I did, lol

@Captainmeme, I honestly think that game 2 would not have had a winner unless someone got bored of the game. The three of us were playing well enough that as soon as anyone got the upper hand the other two started working against him. That happened multiple times, and I don't think we would have seen a winner unless someone just decided they'd had enough.

Great series, these have been a ton of fun to play, I'll skip game 5, but hopefully there will be more after that.
Captainmeme (1400 D Mod (B))
02 Sep 13 UTC
y2kjbk - great to have you :) As Jmo said, 200+ phases refers to here or WebDip.

Anyone else? Or has the novelty worn off now?

4)

And Jmo - if it gets to that situation again I'll be prepared to allow a draw, but only if it's been like that for a while. Really, I want the game to end with a 100% VC win, hence why I'm banning all votes from this point forth except in that situation, including concede. Conceding takes some of the sense of achievement out of it for the winner.

I'd be interested in joining a game 5, if you'll have me.

Just wanting to say while I enjoyed (am enjoying) the first round of games, these are a little too cumbersome for me. I would be happy to play 18 or so VCs, but 34 with no option to draw is a little much for me unfortunately.

Need 4 more players for Sengoku map
as the thread title says, im searching for four more players to fill my "Japan United" game on the Sengoku map. Since creating a game alone does not seem to yield the required number of enthusiastic participants, ill try it via the forum. Only requirement is, that those people stay in game, even if shit starts to get serious for them ^^

Gunboat game: obvious coordination outside the board
wondering how to react on a supported move in a gunboat that is either extremely unlikely to be guessed out of the blue by the supporter, or coordinated off-board, which should not happen in gunboats.
if my opponents coordinate off-board, this game is totally ruined for me and i can give it up right away, as i can't stand a chance against them if they are that well coordinated.

I am embarrassed to state that in the time since I lost my Internet Connection at home last Wednesday or Thursday, I have so far missed 22 turns, increasing my total from 5 and reducing my reliability rating to 90%. I apologise for this and hope to get my line fixed tomorrow.

Known World
Hi all!

Could someone explain to me more clearly how neutral standing armies are rebuilt in Known World 901? I always thought that if you did not have an army in a territory, the neutral standing army got rebuilt, even if you owned that territory. However, I am in a game where it seems a person owned a territory, left it unoccupied for the fall, but the standing neutral army was not rebuilt. It was not formerly anyone's home center.

Is the WWII map unbalanced?
I was pondering the statistics when I realised, that France soloed only once, while the Soviet managed it 10 times. Is this because the map is unbalanced, or because the Soviet players are that good?

A while ago, I started the Tour of VDip! With the intention to play every game on the site. We are currently on round three. After evaluating my summer schedule, I have notices that I have exactly fifty free days (excluding seven for band camp, twelve for a missions trip, and ten for vacation days). Anyway, from this conclusion...Actually, hold on, I have a lot to say...
