Bug report for Layered Map
So I'm trying to convoy an army from map 2 to map 1. I have fleets in the bordering sea territory in maps 1 and 2, and a fleet in the destination bordering in map 2. It SHOULD work, but when I try to enter it the convoy orders all disappear and it gives me an error.

Competitive Dip Round 2
So the first "Competitive Dip" game has finished, with Ruffhaus, Mapu, and myself ending in a 3 way draw. So I'm back, calling for Round 2! Who wants in? Personally, I'm hoping to try out Rinascimento as a "competitive" game just to see how it plays out!

Ankara Crescent 100% VCs
Usually, if you put a game on 100% Victory Conditions, it becomes rather boring - nobody ever fights for a solo, as it is almost always impossible, so everyone aims for a draw from the start.

Need 4 more players for Sengoku map
as the thread title says, im searching for four more players to fill my "Japan United" game on the Sengoku map. Since creating a game alone does not seem to yield the required number of enthusiastic participants, ill try it via the forum. Only requirement is, that those people stay in game, even if shit starts to get serious for them ^^

Gunboat game: obvious coordination outside the board
wondering how to react on a supported move in a gunboat that is either extremely unlikely to be guessed out of the blue by the supporter, or coordinated off-board, which should not happen in gunboats.
if my opponents coordinate off-board, this game is totally ruined for me and i can give it up right away, as i can't stand a chance against them if they are that well coordinated.

Sorry Folks
I am embarrassed to state that in the time since I lost my Internet Connection at home last Wednesday or Thursday, I have so far missed 22 turns, increasing my total from 5 and reducing my reliability rating to 90%. I apologise for this and hope to get my line fixed tomorrow.

Known World
Hi all!

Could someone explain to me more clearly how neutral standing armies are rebuilt in Known World 901? I always thought that if you did not have an army in a territory, the neutral standing army got rebuilt, even if you owned that territory. However, I am in a game where it seems a person owned a territory, left it unoccupied for the fall, but the standing neutral army was not rebuilt. It was not formerly anyone's home center.

Is the WWII map unbalanced?
I was pondering the statistics when I realised, that France soloed only once, while the Soviet managed it 10 times. Is this because the map is unbalanced, or because the Soviet players are that good?

Weekly turns. Good maps. If you haven't played a forum game w/ a human GM in a while (or ever), here's your chance to jump back in.

It's a place to play non-automated diplomacy games. Instead of putting orders into a judge, you email them to me, I adjudicate, then post maps. The dedicated forum allows for outsiders to easily follow, customized maps, and anything else the players or GM wish to post. Here's the link to the last game I GM'd (sorry, I don't know how to embed the link): http://www.redscape.com/viewforum.php?f=52

Isn't that exhausting? What is the advantage of being non-automated? Not trying to be smart mouthed... just trying to get educated.

It's a labor of love for the GM. For the players, the dedicated forums are a more organized way of following the game. Though I've never played the auto-judges, I've heard many complaints about NMR's. In my experience, you just don't get that many with human judges - perhaps it's a matter of more respect for a human GM over a machine (zero NMR's in my game referenced above). There are some Redscape folks around here and they might speak to the differences more eloquently. Also, I am in no way trying to compete against v-dip games, just trying to keep our niche a going concern.
ScubaSteve (1234 D)

I can understand how the lack of NMRs would be an advantage.

If you've never played a PBEM game of Diplomacy before I highly recommend the experience. It's very engaging, humorous and the human GM brings a great touch to the experience.

There is also more leeway for 'alternative' endings to a game than is available with the auto-judge.

It also allows for more complex variants. One that's been discussed here before is Tomahaha's Nuclear Variant, NWO. It has Wing units, nukes, and a sliding-scale vote to end with a "coalition" win.

Another interesting one that I ran probably 10 years ago now is called Deluge. Its played on a standard map but where Europe progressively sinks and SCs change until the winner is whoever controls Switzerland at the end of 1908 (iirc).

Made an account there, but imo the interface is confusing, someone help me?
(Yeah I read about the complex variants eg. Deluge, would wanna try those one day)

I highly recommend Redscape. I grew up as a player there. To make it short, a game with a GM is more compelling - no nmrs- more fun and allows for anything to be tested. Some GM's go out of their way to provide an entertaining game. The only downside is that games arent created as fast as here, but then again there are no nmrs, nor do we keep points, hence people won't gang upon top ranked players for selfish reasons.
SLOTerp (0 D)

DC: Post in the game you wish to play that you'd like to do so. Once the board is filled, a forum is created specifically for that game. The GM sends out the country assignments to all players and diplomacy commences via email. Other details will be provided by the GM. Public press is encouraged and some players actually take on a persona for the game (not necessary but fun).

We used to have ranks at Redscape but have yet to revive the system since transfer of site ownership. You'll see some players there with different titles - that's all from the old system. Hope to see you around.

For anyone interested, we are hosting a PBEM (play by email) tournament at Redscape, beginning in September of 2013. There will be at least five, probably more, seven player standard/classic Diplomacy games played with weekly turns, human GMs, and maps posted on a forum based website.

It is not the intention of this tournament to pry players away from VDiplomacy or to compete with the site in any way. This is simply an offer to share the PBEM experience with players who may have never tried it. As some have mentioned above there are far fewer NMRs, and the games are very high quality competition.

If you are interested, the rules are posted in the forums at http://www.redscape.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&p=27094#p27094, or contact me by PM with interest and/or questions.

Tour of VDip: Extension
A while ago, I started the Tour of VDip! With the intention to play every game on the site. We are currently on round three. After evaluating my summer schedule, I have notices that I have exactly fifty free days (excluding seven for band camp, twelve for a missions trip, and ten for vacation days). Anyway, from this conclusion...Actually, hold on, I have a lot to say...
