Does Anyone Want to Play a Live Classic?
It's the weekend, so I figured maybe there's a handful of several people who want to play a classic game with 10 minute turns.

Please post here if you're interested. I'll check in regularly over the new few hours in case there's interest.

out of interest - what variant would you like to see as FoW?
This is purely out of interest. Add your variant of choice below, or if it is already on the list add a +1 to it. For me it would be:

Known World 901: 1

Lab Diplomacy
I cannot get onto labdip on my computer, it just says "Error triggered: require_once(variants/Carthage/variant.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory.

This was probably caused by a software bug. The details of this error have been successfully logged and will be attended to by a developer."
Has anyone else had this problem? (I am using google chrome, on IE it always says I'm using an invalid cookie).

Diplomatic Strategy
I am somewhat new to this site (although I have been playing Diplomacy for several years now) and I noticed diplomatic relations were conducted a bit differently then what I am accustomed to.
So I guess I'm wondering how you conduct yours. What you except from your neighbors within the first turn, what you expect of your allies, how and why you conduct stabs, and the like.

Is There a Cheating Report Thread
I'm playing a 3 player game with winner take all where the guy in second is cooperating with the guy in first despite how the guy in first is on the verge of victory and I'm nearly eliminated.

It's highly suspicious and looks like cheating. Can I report this anywhere?

Your favorite alcoholic drink
So, as some of you may know. My birthday is coming up (September 5). I was looking to add some alcoholic beverages to my list. What is your favorite drink? I plan on drinking them all day on my birthday so keep the list coming!

1 For taste: Frozen Tres Generations Margarita with Cuantro, freshly made sweet & sour, and a Chambord float
2 For smoothness: Chopin Kamikaze
3 For both: Getting Barreled: Templeton Rye, Aveze, Laird's Bonded, sugar cane, lime tincture

Mmm.. Get a bottle of Scotch whiskey! Bowmore, Deanston, and Highland Park all make tasty yet inexpensive single malt whiskys. Get some Talisker or Oban if you want to spend a bit more money. As for beer, I enjoy Bass Pale Ale and Belhaven.

@Sendric: 3-man is a game right? or did you mean there is a drink out there called 3-man?

@G-man, do you have a personal favorite?

@Amwidkle, which is your favorite?

remember, one drink per player! I'm not that heavy of a heavy weight. ha!

If they can do the Getting Barreled, it's amazing. Best bourbon cocktail I've ever had by a longshot. If they can't, go with the Chopin Kamikaze, it's the only way to fly...

One of my favorites is Fireball Whiskey. Cinnamon flavored Canadian whiskey, tastes just like one of those atomic fireball candies with a kick. While this is good any time of year, it is extra special in the winter though, the "heat" warms you right up!
For a refreshing, more "girly" drink (yeah, I like those as well) mix Raspberry Vodka with cranberry juice, a splash of lemon lime soda, and there you go!

Sake or Port!

@Tomahaha, I really like those, as for Fireball, I do suggest when you get sick, put a shot in a cup of tea...it does wonders, helps me get over being sick within a couple days.

@bluecthulhu, I'll do the Port, not a big fan of Sake. :)

Thanks!

If you like fireball, try this (I made up myself and it's real yummy)
add a "bit" (up to your tastes) of vanilla extract (I actually prefer the imitation stuff, it blends better in drinks if using the imitation stuff, add more, if real stuff, add less)
Amwidkle (1351 D)

+1 to Fireball whiskey. I'll have to try that in my tea next time I'm sick.

If I had to recommend only one kind of Scotch, I'd go with Bowmore. For me, the taste of Bowmore is a darn-near perfect balance of sweetness and smoke. But I really recommend you try a bunch of different Scotches to find your own personal favorite. :)

Bowmore Legend is the youngest in the series, and at $30, it is IMO a good value for money. I haven't actually tried the main Bowmore, the 12-year-old, but it's probably good too. Bowmore Darkest (15-year-old) is smokey like the younger Bowmores but it also is full of dark chocolate and ripe fruit notes, having been matured in sherry casks for its final 3 years. Almost too rich for my tastes. Bowmore also has 18- and 21-year-old versions that I want to try badly but are a bit out of budget.

Mmm, I wanna go pour a dram of Bowmore right now. Too bad I'm away from my bottles.

Jamesons & a Coke.
I'm getting big into tequila at the moment. Go for a reposado (medium age) at least. Grab a glass, add ice, a shot or two of tequila, freshly squeeze one lime and add soda water. Fantastic drink!

@Sandgoose. Yes, 3-man is a game. When I first read your question, I thought you were asking about a game. Why? Cause I'm an idiot.

My favorite drink is probably the Long Island Iced Tea. If you like whiskey and shots, I recommend the 3 Wisemen or even the 4 Horsemen.

As for bourbons, try George Dickel. It's made in my home state of Tennessee, and like its better-known rival Jack Daniels markets itself as a "whiskey" but is technically speaking a bourbon (Bourbon is an American/Canadian spirit made primarily out of corn rather than malted barley like Scotch whisky). In my book George Dickel beats out Jack Daniels by a mile. It has this Scotch-like delicacy and subtlety.

Your local home-brew store can give you more advice than I can. I can only say that patience is definitely a virtue when brewing beer.

just a quick list of basic equipment:
1 x keg
1 x airlock
1 x flow-tube
1 x bottle caper
30 x longkneck bottles (&30 caps)
1 x brewkit
1kg sugar
1 x long handled stirrer
sterilisation powder

Might I recommend a rather unique, and eminently enjoyable vodka known as Zubrowka from Poland. This is a Bison Grass vodka, and is really special and a smart value at USD $25.00 approx for 750ml. Put it in the freezer, and enjoy by the shot. In my opinion the smoothest, most pleasant vodka on the planet.....light years beyond all the chichi vodkas that are in vogue for a few weeks at a time.

outofbounds, I tend to go with Russian Standard, but I'll give that one a shot. :)

Yes, sounds interesting OOB, I'll look for it. I do recommend the Chopin if you like a smooth Vodka though, and it's a potato vodka. I prefer it to all the other high-end standards.
SandgooseXXI (1294 D)

Also, on the freezer thing, you should try to just have it chilled instead of in the freezer, too cold starts to wear the distillation which overpowers a lot of the natural wheat (or bison Grass) aroma and flavor

Background color problem
I am using Chrome, and have been for a long time, but recently, I have had a problem with the background graphics. The background initially displays the normal brown with shading of the diplomacy map, then after a second or two, it disappears, and turns white with no map.

Any suggestions?
